1/2X28 RH barrel threading kit
Need to thread a AK barrel.

That's what some of us would call a baffle strike kit

Half inch (.50) minus bore size of at least .308 (more likely .310-312 for AK bullets) leaves .192 inches, or ..096 inches (308) per side to .093 inches (.311) per side for threads.  And that does not leave any room on either side for the bullet.  Normally, at least .020 on each side of the bullet is pretty minimal.  That leaves you about .043-.046 for your thread thickness, and that is damned near paper thin.   I would not mount a flash suppressor on threads that thin, and I sure would not mount anything longer or heavier...hence the term baffle strike kit.

1/2x28 is fine for 30. 1/2 threads are common on 9mm barrels, which are obviously much larger than 308. Colt uses it. Pretty sure it'll be fine.

9mm is much less pressure than 30 cal rifle so less energy stress of the pulling on the threads.
I've been threading barrels many years, I wouldnt want 1/2x28 on any of my 30 cal rifle barrels unless the gun was dedicated for sub ammo only.

aac and silencerco both sell brakes/hiders in 1/2x28 for .30 cans, I wouldnt worry its not uncommon for ak's.

They don't sell them for use on a 30 cal rifle with 1/2x28 threads, they sell them for use on a AR or other small caliber rifle and use with a 30 cal can.
9/16x24 or 5/8x24 are the norm for most 30 caliber rifles.

aac actually had an article that specifically told people to thread an ak47 to 1/2x28 but the link no longer works. Both aac and silencerco 762 cans fit on the 556 mounts, the 1/2x28 762 mounts are definitely meant for 762 rifles with 1/2x28 threads. Its not ideal, but its not uncommon.

This is the link to the article, but unless its saved somewhere else I dont know how to find it.
