Do any of you surf fish (Ocracoke / Hatteras)?

All my fishing buddies are deployed / new baby arrived / got married / moved away / wife gets pissed when they stay gone all weekend.

I haven't there in years.  I originally from Goldsboro, NC and we used to fish and duck hunt the barrier islands all the time.

Cape Lookout was our favorite fishing spot because of it's isolation.  That was a long time ago.

We used to slay the ducks on the Pamlico Sound................brings back a lot of memories.

The Outer Banks is the only place I will surf fish. We try to go a few times a year and at least once a year we will go offshore. This is a few years back one of our off shore experiences.

a buddy of mine has a cottage in Avon near buxton and the light house. when I go up there we fish around the jetties where the light house used to be –– deep holes near the shore and absolutly no telling whats gonna bite your hook ––fishy as hell up there, also fished around the hotels coming into buxton. haven't done it much but when its warm slinging sting silvers at the point is crazy fun when the spanish are in - crowded tho and people aren't afraid to lip you if you don't know the deal. Some of the people at the point/jetties live around buxton or fish at the point often so they have no problem elbowing their way in if the fish are biting. Don't get your dander up if someone crowds your space and seems like a good policy to not to get smart with someone you don't know ––saw a guy basically get run off by group of guys who apparently didn't appreciate that he couldn't figuare which way the current was going and was casting over their lines not using enough weight to avoid getting drifted into their stuff - he smarted off when it was his fault and personally I thought he was gonna get beat. Theres tons of space to fish less of a hassle than the point up there.

I didn't go up to hatteras last fall/winter since trout were biting in the surf at wrightsville bch and its a 4 min drive as opposed to 5 hr one.
