The minimum "standard" radius for HO is 15 inches.  You can go smaller, but the main limiting factor is the length of the car/engine that will be used.  Shorter = tighter.

Check this page

ETA: Just read another page that states the standard is 18 inches.  I still say it's going to depend on the longest car that has to negotiate the curve.

I see there is limitations on what engines can be used with a smaller radius curves. I am going to build basically a square layout to run around the edge of a room. The tighter the radius for me the better. Am I going to really limit my options on engine and cars by going with a 15 deg curve? I am wanting to go with a steam engine setup.

Depends on how much experince the HO has!

I have a shitload of N scale stuff, so yes, I guess Im a geek...

If you go with HO 15 is about as tight as you can get...(looks like it was already said above)

Make your engin a 0-4-0 and you will be sitting just fine.

I always wanted to have a RR train run my booze around the edge of my man room.

Maybe you could build a test section with the radius you want to use and run the cars around it by hand to see if there will be problems.

Something else to consider is if the raduis is too tight you may have problems with cars uncoupling and/or derailing.

I'm working on a 4x8 HO set-up in my garage....If I ever get a chance at it.

I've got my basic layout table finished.

Post this in GD. There are some pretty serious model RR buffs there. I am a bit more partial to the full scale stuff.

I've worked with a few model RR guys over the years. Anytime I think Fly Fishing is an expensive hobby I just think of model RR. I understand this is the local shrine for those devoted to model RR worship.

Years ago when my Grandfather was alive he had his entire basement decated to the HO line of trains which provided his own little world for us grand kidds to observe but no touch was the rule of the house.

The switch board or chrismas tree set up controlled over six seperate rail lines on the board which grew every year until the whole basement, about eight hundred sq ft was grandpa's land.  the tarins were mostly based on the first diesel LP and BN freight trains with all the green, orange and brown rail cars, including a red caboose. Grand pa sent some serious dollars on the hobby which small towns and building factories were constructed of cardboard and plaster. all the wall projected the olympic mountains with and grass farm lands in the distance with the most outer permeter track contained a eight car Amtrak passenger set up which was the favorite with tunnels and tree setting making this little world look fairly realistic.  Its a neat hobby and worth it if your a dreamer.....

Just don't put the urinal on the train.  Moving piss targets when it's drunk out makes for difficult clean-up.

Adjective
Subject / noun
I forget what that shit's called
Predicate / verb
Extraneous, but necessary filler material.

A complete sentence only requires a subject and a predicate.  Although my English teachers would be appalled at the syntax, it is still kosher.

As for Skipa-de-do-da, fuck that fucking fucker.
