Or at least any recommended ones? My in laws have been w/o AC for the last 1.5 weeks...yeah, it's been hot.

They got a quote of $3k to "fix" it, which seems sky high considering you can get a whole new unit for less than that.

Just looking for someone reasonably priced and trustworthy to go check out their unit and see what's going on with it, maybe replace it.

Evo, shoot me your number in a PM. I work for Blue Springs School District and I've got a good friend that is HVAC for our district and does side work. He LOVES side work and I guarantee that he'll take care of you for a very fair price. He's a good guy and knows his stuff. He saved my butt the last week of June. I was leaving the next day for a week long missions trip when the compressor fan went out on my AC. He had two of the very motors I needed he pulled from good units he replaced and had me back up and running in 30 minutes for next to nothin' (compared to what someone in the phone book would have charged me).
