OK so the job is throwing me to the Portland area also. However I will be working all over the state of Oregon, and sometimes in WA and Alaska from time to time. I am 25 but not much for the club scene. I am thinking of moving to troutdale for its proximity to the out doors fun. What do you guys think of Troutdale?

I used to live in tigard, nice town no too busy, and TCGC (tri county gun club) is about 15 miles south.

Troutdale is a very nice area. It's close to the gorge and hwy 84. The slight downside is that it gets pretty cold and windy during the fall and winter. My friend that lived out there was always commenting on how he had to always chase down his empty garbage cans in the neigbors' (down the street) yard. Corbett is also nice.

Used to live in Gresham and Wood Village (it’s all one big town really) back in ’91-’93 seemed like a nice part of the Portland Metro area. It is cold though. Right at the mouth of the Gorge you can get some pretty nasty wind. Also, it’s right under the glide path for PDX 28R and 28L; you’ll get to see a lot of airplanes pretty close. If you decide to move south (Woodburn to north Lane County) let me know, I’ll help you find (buy) a house.

I live in Troutdale and grew up in Corbett so love them both. You will need a four wheel drive if you plan on getting around during the winter - If you have never seen freezing rain you will be amazed at it, 3" thick on one side of your car and 3/8" thick on the other ,cool stuff. Also, the police chief signs off on all my title 2 stuff ,no problem. At my place -outside city limits- I shoot all my toys . Good place to live.

So are you saying that troutdale is a lot different from portland in terms of weather? I have seen freezing rain... no fun at all.

Not too much.. Troutdale takes the blunt end of the stick when the cold and windy air comes out of the gorge.

Yes , it is alot worse than Portland. When you look at the tree you will notice that they only have branches on  one side = heavy wind. Good news no smog. NoHair
