UPDATE... saw Doug last nite, doing well, 2 breaks in lower left leg, 6 breaks in left foot.
The drivers tire actually ripped off his left boot, breaking his leg and throwing him clear.  Driver didnt see him and slammed into him. 2 feet over and it would have killed him.
