Alright boys and girls, the next Arfcom Hometown shoot is on the calendar, and the KNOB CREEK GUN RANGE is welcoming us back!!!!
The date is Saturday, September 20th. Everyone in state and out of state is welcome! The range opens at around 9am, and we're usually shooting by 9:30 or so, just depends on the target vehicle readiness. The cost to shoot is $10, to be paid to Knob Creek at the Range Shop upon arrival. Just be sure when you check-in, you let them know you are with the ar15.com group. And do feel free to show your support to Knob Creek by doing any needed shopping in the store while you are there Of course, we will have a vehicle to obliterate. Kenny (owner of Knob Creek for those who don’t know) has already offered to pick that up for us, but with the high price of scrap right now, that price will be $250, and unfortunately that’s not a guaranteed price since we are a little time away right now. So, if anyone has any inside contacts on a possible better rate, please let myself or Ky_Bob know Otherwise, we’ll just go with Kenny’s guy. Tannerite… I have already received a shipment of 6 cases of Tannerite, so I think we’re prepared there! Camping will be available for Friday night and Saturday night for anyone wishing to I spoke to Kenny, and he has generously waived the camping fees for both nights. One catch though, we will need a Porta-John on the premisis if there is more than 5 people camping. Cost for that will be $100 total for the drop off and pick up. I’m sure there will be more than 5 camping, so we’ll work this out when we get an idea of how many there will be later on. Ok, now I hate this part, but some people have already asked about donations, and I thank you all very much. I want to make it clear to everyone, NO ONE owes anything but the $10 range fee on the day of the shoot to participate. We want to encourage everyone to come out and have a great time with all of us and not worry about funds…heck, ammo and gas is expensive enough, and some of you come a long way! But, with the target car and Tannerite, these things do cost a little to put on. So, if you desire to contribute a small amount before the shoot, please contact me by IM and I can give you my info, or feel free to make a contribution on shoot day. Again, this is NOT required, so do not feel obligated or pressured here please. I think I can speak for Bob here too when I say these shoots mean a lot to us, and we just love having so many of you guys be able to come from the distances you do to take part and hang out. I’ve really enjoyed meeting so many great folks during these shoots we’ve put on in the past 2 years, hope more new faces find their way here this time too! FYI, yes, there are usually several full auto weapons at these shoots, as well as other types of weapons you may have only seen on the internet or in a shop and wanted to try out. Many of the owners don’t mind letting someone shoot their weapons, as long as they ask nicely, and use your own “BRASS CASED” quality ammo. So, keep that in mind if you are looking to come out and possibly get a chance to caress that full auto of your dreams I know we are a good bit out from this happening, but if you have any questions the day of the shoot, please find Ky_Bob or myself, and I’m sure we can offer some kind of an answer. Many thanks to Kenny of Knob Creek for welcoming us for another shoot, and thanks to Ky_Bob in helping get this going again! Now, for those that have not been to Knob Creek Range before, Here is a MAP OF KNOB CREEK'S LOCATION And here is a link that you can input your address in and then get driving directions automatically to Knob Creek Range (Knob Creek's address is already input): DRIVING DIRECTIONS General Safety rules 1) Always obey the 3 basic rules of safety. Here is a refresher. 1) ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction 2) ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot 3) ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use 2) The firing line The firing line will be clearly marked with yellow caution tape. All shooters should fire only from the line. Your toes should be touching the line unless you are shooting prone then the muzzle should be acroos and downrange of the line. Belt fed weapons will of course sit back from the line with muzzles over the line. No loaded weapons on the range except on the line. This means that magazines are inserted into weapons at the line and removed before leaving the line. Ensure the weapon is unloaded before leaving the line. No one crosses the firing line without it being cleared. 3) Clearing the firing line Clears will be sounded by the Range Officer on duty. Weapons should not be handled during the clear, loading magazines is fine. 4) Eye and ear protection is required. 5) Tannerite placement: Bob or myself are always out at the targets during the placement of the charges. If you end up placing any tannerite somewhere on a target, please be sure it is IN FRONT of the target and NOT behind it!!!!!!! Bob and myself will be paying attention, but it helps if everyone else pays attention too! Looking forward to seeing all you guys again! Jeff |

I think 2 cars would be the best
Look at the 2 cars from last time when we had 2 or 3 cases? I really dont think that 1 car will last 6 cases |
If we only have one car we can start a pool on the size of the largest piece left. |
If we just have one car...we'll have to just play a game and see how long it will take to blow the car literally in two....making two automobile targets then |
i wonder how many rounds of 223 i'll have left after the pike co shoot
hmm |
This is awesome man, I really appreciate you taking all the efforts to make this happen. I have two weddings to get through and then I will see where my funds are. I can't wait to meet up with all of you, seriously, you have no idea how excited I am.
I can donate a '95 chevy 3500 quad cab, if somebody has a trailer or what not to pick it up and drag it down there....
(No engine, however) ~Dan |
Thank you, Dan, for that offer! I don't personally have a trailer, but doesn't mean I couldn't possibly acquire one...maybe. What part of Ohio is this in if you don't mind me asking? |
Two Weddings? Hell, you're going to be ready for some serious blowing #$%& up after that torture As long as you have gas funds to get there, it's still a sight worth seeing, and it's nice to meet guys from here! Hope you can make it!!
I know that Pike Co shoot will be fun this weekend! Heck, it's gotta be more fun than what I'm stuck doing the rest of this week starting tomorrow and weekend (laying a patio and landscape at my sister's house ). Hope you have a few spare mags after the shoot, you're close enough you're required to be at Knob Creek! |
I know cheap cars are hard to find, but have you checked out Craigslist. There are a few cars on there for about 500 that are barely working. I see at least 2 right now for the 500 price. I know its double the 250 originally planned, but it could be a good place to check.

Im 15 minutes away from knob, gas prices and wallet size BE DAMNED, I'll be there! Probably with my two pair of tux "shoe" rentals in tow. BTW I have a kidney and a left testicle for trade toward some .223 |
Dayton/Xenia Area |
I can get my hands on a nice car hauler trailer. I'll just have to see if a road trip to Dayton is in the cards......Diesel is so expensive, I gave my left nut and it didn't even cover the last fill up!!! Seeing all that tannerite, I've decided it's too far away. I can't wait. Plus I think I've talked at least 4 or 5 others into coming already. +1 for camping (I'll pitch in on the shit house) +1 for Knob Creek rocks! |
im going to do my best to be there, even if i dont have much ammo. Its fun just watching some of you guys going thru mags
Should be a lot of campers! It will be warm enough and we have our own bathroom. Now we don't have to wait for Paul and Judy to leave their camper so we can sneak in and use theirs.
I guess you never saw the hidden camera! |
Thanks, Dan. I've actually been out all day at my family's farm and my sister's house today. I was hoping we might have a trailer suitable for picking up a vehicle, I knew we did at one time. But alas, my Uncle traded it in for a new cattle hauler. I'm still seeing if I have any other options for trailers though...... |

Well, after I did some thinking, Id be better off not coming due to bills that need paid. I had knee surgery in April and Ill be paying the bill for that for a lil while.
Sorry about your knee, that sucks. Hope the recovery is going well, and sorry you won't be able to make it. I think that's certainly understandable though, hopefully we'll see ya again Winter/Spring shoot. |
Rehab, rehab, rehab, and then a little more. It took me two surgeries to figure that out. It is well worth the pain. |
if i can get some 308 ammo i'll be there.................
only need 500 rounds.............. for starters............. |
You come see me, I have a few mags through the M16 for you. |
I would like to try to make it out from the Cincy Area...I'll have to wait until it gets closer to know for sure though. Thanks for setting it up...I have only been to Knob Creek once a couple years ago for the machine gun shoot.
I'll be there! Heck, i'm at KCR about twice a month anyways, it's right down the road!
at what point do you have enough tannerite?
I vote we all bring 1 case and make a huge single explosion that sends us all ducking for cover, 1 hit car destroyed, gun shop foundation cracked, emergancy personel responding, earthquake meters measuring the blast at 4.5 minimum, and everyone trying to leave before we get in real trouble. KY BOB talks to the cops, everyone else shut it!!! |
Honestly, what are the rules regarding how much tannerite one can set off at once. Does Kenny have a limit on how much we can shoot at once?
Prep |
OH thanks bud!! |
I've never heard a limit, but one has to be reasonable, and above all safe. Remember, we want to be able to return to Knob Creek!! Typically the cars are only about 120 yards away, so can't be loading up a dump truck like that guy did up in Minnesota or wherever that was, that shook the nuclear plant miles away, lol. NOTHING is allowed to be blown off property, and more importantly back towards the firing line/buildings. We've set off some pretty big ones so far. We actually set off a milk jug 3/4 full last year....it decimated the rear clip of that car!!! Of course, the cars always seem to catch fire some how also. |
So what I hear, is that by September 20th I need to find a big bucket, 1(maybe more) gallon of tannerite and something that I can move past the cars(for safety of course) that won't shoot shrapnel into Jefferson County. Lets see what I can dig up.
Prep |
What was that? |
I believe it's usually because of the Norse God named API |
Bump, to keep it on first page. Don't want to tack it.......everyone just looks past the tacks

I have a guy I work with here in Louisville(Springhurst) who has 94 Crown Vic that shit out on him and its sitting in our work's parking lot and he doesn't know what to do with it. I asked him if he would sell it and to us and he said $200 would be awesome if someone would tow it away for him. I don't have a way to tow it or the $200 to put up for it right now but I'll see what I have at end of next week(I'll be caught up on my bills for the month). I figured we could jump on this. He is gonna start getting the title stuff straightened out this week. It won't be able to sit up here until the shoot though, maybe we could work something out with Kenny?
I'll post pics of it tomorrow, I mean a week ago he was driving it so I think its more then anyone could have hoped for. So let me know what you think. My cell number is (502) 232-0386 if anyone needs it, it would be best to call me after 6:00 pm but anytime after noon or all day any weekend will do. |
IM sent, thanks for keeping your eyes and ears open!! |
I have access to a car hauler trailer in L-ville. I could probably make this one happen. Last time Kenny didn't mind our vehicles parked down there for a little while, but it would be wise to ask. How quickly does the car need to be moved? Maybe we could get him to cut the price, if we do come and get it. Otherwise he's gonna have to pay to have it hauled to the scrap yard. Lemme know what gets decided. I will definitely work out a way to come get it if he'll take $100 for it. |
Coheeba, thank you very much for that offer. I've asked around to the guys from my work in our Louisville office, and no one there had access to a hauler. Honestly, the price is an issue, as we can get a car from Kenny with no hassles involved for $250. Kstarr, if your friend is set on the $200 price, it will be in our best interest to pass and just go through Kenny. But like Coheeba said, for a $100 or less we'd make it happen! Either way, still thank you VERY much for thinking of the group blasting when faced with a scrap car! |
Any problem with bringing a couple family members ( non arfcomers)
Is there usually parts and accesories forsale at these shoots it will be my first and I figured I should bring some fun money. |
No problem. We welcome all. There will usually be some guys to bring some stuff to trade, but Knob Creek always has stuff to sell. Plus it's not a bad idea to support them, so we continue to have the one of the best places in the US to shoot. |
Knob has a shop but I dont think many of the members will be bringing stuff to sell. I just haven't seen anyone advertising any items for sale.
Exactly like Coheeba said on all counts, Everyone is welcome!!! |
It sure does have that great target look to it!!! I'd love to work something out with him if he decides to come off that price. She's got "tannerite slut" written all over it. Will even throw in free pictures and video of it's destruction to sweeten the deal Heck, he can even come out and join in the destruction!! |
You know you can get a ride down right? (WTF happened to the quote? This was for bryan)
I MAY be able to come up with a trailer for the truck in Dayton, but I do not have a vehicle to pull it with.
Thanks KY BOB, the GF will be coming as well and she has never shot an m16 before, might take you up on your offer. I have a little over 300rds of federal xm193 right now and am working on getting more before the shoot. Shooting my ar is fun but it isnt m16 fun |
Thanks man, Ill see what Linda has to say. I could split the gas. |
Can anyone purchase Tannerite, if so where?
Ive seen pictures of the last shoot, can't wait to see the explosions up close. |

I plan to come to this shoot it will be my first. I have never shot a full auto and would like to, anyone bringing anything I could shoot if I provide good ammo? And another question does everybody put in money for the cars/tannerite? I would be more than happy to contibute to the cause.
