Ok everyone; let's do it again for those that need to continue on their builds. I've talked to a couple of guys about meeting on July 5 for round 2. Remember anyone and everyone is invited to attend whether you are continuing your build, wanting to assist, just learn, do a little blasting out back, or just BS. Lunch anyone? PM me and let me know.

Email sent.  I am there!  Looking forward to it.  I may try and get some others to join us again, not sure if it will work out or not, but we shall see.  I'm there though, and I have everything ready to go.  Anything I can do to expedite my build between now and then?  Painting barrel, or removal of trunnions (if I can figure it out), anything?

Thats very generous of you, hosting a build party.  I don't know much of anything about the AK, and I live too far away to attend, but I hope you guys have fun and build some nice toys.

I've never built an ak, heck I've never even cleaned one.  Is it possible for me to get the parts in time?  If I can, is it possible for a newbie to build it in one day with all the knowledge and tools that will be there?

Well everyone I apologize but something has come up for me on July 5. A personal matter has come up for me. I'm going to have to move the build to either the following Saturday or the one following; whenever it works for everyone. Please everyone contact me and let me know which weekend would be best for you. One more major problem occurred yesterday when my spotwelder shorted out and blew up while welding a local builders rails. It can't be repaired so I'm not sure what will happen with that. I don't want to buy another one. Hopefully we can work things out in the next couple of weeks. Here is my number if you need to call.

Let me know, either of the following two weekends will be fine for me.  I know a few people with welding equipment, not sure if they have a spot welder, nor if they would let me borrow one, but I will check.  I have contemplated buying some welding equipment myself, but I am just a little to low on funds for that right now.

The 26th is out for me.  Any chance of the weekend prior?  I can't get a baby sitter that day.  I can work something out for the 19th, and for that matter the 12th.  Other than that, it will probably be sometime late August, if I am lucky.  Oh, no luck so far on a welder from my end.

My last one i had together in under a days time so it's possible you would just have to paint it later. Since we're in limbo on a date you have time to get a kit and parts needed.

Heres some inspiration for ya, My last builds:

I can't do the 19th. I have plans to do my CC class that day. Sorry.

I am still working on the 26th, but no luck thus far.  If that works for everyone else...go ahead and set the date for the 26th.  With a bit of luck, I will be able to get a baby sitter that day, otherwise I will have to get together with you guys some other time.  Sometime before November, Obama will probably try and outlaw gatherings of gun owners.  Lord knows our guns will be outlawed.

UPDATE!!!  I think I may have a baby sitter for the 26th, so for now, count me as there.  My sister is coming down for the weekend, and I may impose on her, she is staying at my house afterall...

I may be able to make the 26th, this weekend didn't work for me either.  I need to order a couple of flats from Cope's and hopefully Nodak will get in some more Polish receivers.

Sounds awesome.  What are the plans for lunch?  Drive into Woodruff?  Everything is still a go on my part, so I am quite looking forward to it.  What all do I need to bring, I am planning on all my AK parts, some ammo to try it out if I finish it, a few other guns to shoot, ammo for them, what am I missing?  Nothing?

Got my kit I ordered from apex. Its a 77 model. Not as good as the 80's kits. But its a AK! Going to de-mill all that I can before the 26th. Some of the wood is cracked, and the gas tube lever is broken. Kevin

Wood is an easy fix but i'm not sure about the lever.

I'm still in, as far as I know.  I still have not gotten to de-mil my kit.  Not really sure where to start.  I am a complete novice at this, so you guys will be guiding me a lot.  If I can't get this thing de-milled, will it be possible to completely finish this thing in a day?  I am just a little anxious to finish it, I have other projects to start devoting time to...

Even if it were completely demilled, you wouldn't be able to finish it in a day. (Maybe if you worked from 4A to 11P)

Be patient. Even when yer done, it'll need a paint job.

But the waiting is worth the finished product.

If I'm there, I'll help out however I can (Andy walked me thru my build)

OK everyone, so far from the guys I've called, everyone seems to be happy with me calling in lunch to the local eatery and bringing it back. If anyone is unhappy about this, just let me know. $5 will get you a pretty good burger plate and everyone can keep on working while I go pick it up.. Don't forget to bring your drinks in a cooler to satisfy you for the day. That way everyone can have what makes you happy( Happy campers make happy builders! ) And bring whatever guns you may want to shoot also. If anyone wants to shoot some Class 3 guns, give me a call and I'll give you a deal on ammo so you won't have to bring any unless you want to. I'm looking forward to it Saturday!
