I recently went to Nicaragua (Central America) for vacation over Thanksgiving holiday. It was my second trip to Nicaragua. I went same time last year.

I’m an AK guy and I was able to get some photos related to my favorite weapon while there. I think the pictures are interesting and just wanted to share with y’all.

These two AK’s are left over from the fighting in the 1980’s (anybody remember IRAN-Contra Affair?). These are considered contraband and I was very lucky to be able to see and fondle these beautiful rifles! They are a 1960 Soviet AKM & milled 1962 East German.

I found this spot really fun and interesting. These series of pics are from the Peace Monument in Managua. Fighting ended within Nicaragua in mid 1980’s and the monument was created sometime afterwards to symbolize the end of fighting . Thousands of weapons are buried in the concrete. This crumbling section of the wall allows you to see some of the rifles, many of which are AK's. In any other country this location would some type of tourist attraction, but here it is left ignored and uncared for.

All the concrete you see has the weapons encased on the inside. The photos shown above were taken down the steps located on the left side of this photo.

This statue was in the same relative area of downtown Managua.

This wall painting was in Leon. That's Uncle Sam under the foot. You can also see two AK's in the mural.

...Hope y'all enjoyed the pics!

They really should have oiled them before they put those AK's in storage.

Cool pics thanks for sharing.

I think some of those guns could be made to shoot again.

Glad you guys enjoyed the pics.

Sure, it’s sad to see the weapons destroyed like that, but it was a really unique, fun, and interesting place to visit. At least the two AKs from the top picture were saved from destruction!
