Oh hell yes. Don't tell Victory but, I'm going to use his 100-400. shhhhhhh Mark. |
Man, I love this time of year. Those idiots at that link.... I'd love to see the F-15s we have here flying all the time. Something about the sound they make overhead makes my day, even when they're up high and just out for a patrol.
For the masses: The Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds? I certainly wouldn't turn down a ride from either....but which would you guys rather see perform? Or anyone want to start an argument about the jets themselves? And +1000 on the pictures. |
Hmm perfect timing since i'm heading up that way.. One of my riding routes is through the airport area and hopefully an F15 will fly over me as I Shake my Fist in the Air as to say "ROCK ON!" if you get of shot of that, I will salute you Mark. |
Agreed! But the F-16 IS a superior jet!hings Thats why the Angels put on a better show....mostly Marines behind the stick! |
I left an approprate response to some of the crap posted on there. It went somthing like this. "You people are nothing but a bunch of pussys. The Blues kick ass, don't like them, move to cuba you commie fucks".
I hope I wasn't too brash. |
I'll probably see him tomorrow.....whatcha got to keep me quiet??? |
A whole bunch of angry, armed OHTF members that didn't get to see the pictures?
Yeah! Take that! I'll also be using the 70-200 with the 2x adapter... Mark. |

Waaa! Waaaa!
The loud noises are so scary! Waaaa! Get us some good shots Mark. |
They really don't get it. They should wear headphones while they play their X Box and this wouldn't bother them.
When I was a kid jets from Kingsley field used to fly over our town once in a while. That was back when they would go supersonic. I loved the BOOM. It just isn't the same since they stopped allowing supersonic flight over the continental US. Man I love those guys and gals. Wish they could go a little faster. |
Is this you (from their comments):
Very nice. |

Nope. I was before that one. That one belongs to waltersobchak. Mark. |

Went Saturday with my 15 year old daughter. Day was hot, but the Angels were great.
Took some pics iwth my crayppy camera - I'll post a few. F117 NighHawk - gave me wood. Out of nowwhere then poof he was gone! Saw Gackman keeping things organized, Carried all day, but opted for the 2" .38spl over the larger 1911. They did ask if I had a knife (Benchmade) - sorry, I lied. As for those lib-tards posting - get a baby bottle. (Waah! I'm afraid of everything) |

One of my all time favorite airshow moments was Hilsboro in 88 or 89...last year of the PANG F-4's. When they were done with the routine, they flew a missing man for the F-4, but they were allowed to keep 5 just for airshows. Don't know if they still have the 5, or did they get mothballed too?
Yup it was a great day for the Air Show. I carried all day. F the Port of Portland!
Now I'm going thru the picts. I'm not very good at Aircraft shooting, so these aint gonna be all that great. Sorry. Teasers: US Army Golden Knignts Aerobatic. I think its a "Yak" Sean Tucker A British Jet trainer This plane was doing things I didn't think a human could survive... Mark. |
Great photos guys!!
They say it is the sound of freedom, but when you are around the noise for almost everday of four years of your life listing to them slam down on to flight decks, landing and take offs just out side of your window. It gets kinda old. |
Awesome pics Mark! As usual!
My son is sitting here just begging me to go up there and watch them..... <--- The look on his face when I told him it was over already |
Thanks! I had a good time making them!
Nice shots! Aerial stuff is always tough, some of the hardest shots to make, in my experience. Too short of a lens, and the planes are too small, but if you use a long lens, then there is too much mirage and atmosphere in the shots. Too slow a shutter speed, and they blur, too fast, and the props lose all sense of motion. Always rewarding though to get good shots though! Looks like a couple got a bit lower than they did on Friday night! |

Nice pics everyone. I stopped off at Ladd Acres to watch the Angels this afternoon, and they are awesome! They would bank & swoop directly overhead at a very low altitude.
Proud to be an American! |
Great captures Mark, better then I would have done.........
And you too itgoesboom nice shots Victory |
Very nice shots Mark!
Love the A-10! They were doing some practice runs on Thursday, but I didn't get anything near as nice as that! ETA a few more pics. Another shot through the mirage of the engine exhaust: Close up Formation take off Team Oracle A-10 Heritage flight This corporate jet landed during the show, couldn't resist taking the shot, the light was just perfect.
Not from an airshow, but here is a shot I took a few years ago on the Constellation, just for you for old times sake. |
Thanks. I was pretty stoked when the light started to shape up, but I was really wishing that Fat Albert would have taken off around that light. By the time he took off, it was way too dark! |
Cool! Saturday afternoon I was shooting photos and video on the KC-135 that did the flyby and then we refuled that F-117 right afterward. Went down to SE Oregon and refueld a bunch of our F-15s after that. Was a beautiful afternoon to fly. |
I can't compete with that anymore...
Nice work from a great seat! Mark. |
I'm amazed at you guys and your photo skills, that is truly AWESOME! |
Yeah, I have some pretty cool shots in my archive, but I don't think I can outdo a F-117 doing mid air refueling. I concede! |
Thanks! Actually, I didn't even know we were going to refuel an F-117 until after we were airborne. My understanding was that they were already retired. Was pretty fun to lay there and see it creeping up behind us! |

You where about two miles from my house you should have called. |
I will drop you a line next year. |

I lack the skill and gear of M-60. I did take a few videos/pics at the airshow.
Me and Danielle A10 Warthog (personal favorite) F15 Flying Eagle F117 NightHawk - what a thrill. I was using the Canon XT and NoShows 100-400 IS L lens.
I must get a camera with a faster AF and more focus points. Mark. |
I saw the blue angels on sunday, I stopped at 185th just off of 26 and watched them fly by a few times.
I should have gone. |
