Well, my ears are still ringing. I need to find earplugs that don't chop the highs out more than the lows; the Surefire plugs muted the solos and the vocals so I had to take them out
.
I'm a little disappointed with the mixing and volume, not the worst I've heard by any means, but when you have to struggle half the time to pick Angus out of the mix during a solo or fill and you can't hear the vocals consistently over all the bass and low-mid, that's a problem.
And some douchebag staff-arse tapped me on the shoulder and told me I couldn't record video with my fucking Blackberry, that I could only take pictures. I was just hoping it might not sound like shit when I played it back, but it's not like you can see more than fuzzy blobs or hear anything in quality with it; what was I going to do, sell copies? I just wanted a couple songs and some showy moments to jog my memory later. But this guy tells me the production guys in the mixing booth are watching me
, I guess he didn't notice the guy standing RIGHT NEXT to me using an actual digital camera to record half the concert, or the other 8 or so people I could see inside of 30 feet that no one said a thing to.
Other than that, Brian sounded great when I could hear him, as did Angus once they brought his levels up a bit halfway through. No doubt they're still as strong as ever.
I like their new album. It's not Back In Black, and the song "Black Ice" has lame lyrics, but it's as good as most of their past albums and WAY better than Stiff Upper Lip, though they do seem to be running out of clever lyrics.
The concert felt too short even though it was 2 hours, so I guess that means it was good; guess I wanted to hear more of the old stuff still.
