Been a while since I promoted the ACTS matches here, so I thought I'd plug the matches again. If you haven't been out, you're missing out.

Purpose - To provide a sport in which Civilian gun owners along with Military and Law Enforcement professionals can practice 'real world' shooting skills in a sporting venue that has not been offered by any other shooting discipline or association.
To promote the safe practical, proficient use of rifles. To foster sportsmanship and camaraderie among rifle owners and to support and defend the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
Date: Second Saturday of every month

Time: 10:00am (sign up begins at 9:00)

Location: Centerline of Calhoun County (269) 763-2079

Match Fees: $20 member
$25 non-member

ACTS is a unique action shooting sport whose primary tool is the rifle. It is in a similar vain as IDPA, but rather than pistols, we use rifles, and we use much longer ranges. At an average match, you will fire 200 rounds of rifle, and up to 50 rounds of pistol ammunition. We test more than your ability to hit a paper target from a static position. We challenge you by getting you out of your comfort zone, and moving you about. We shoot from cover, while on the move, at multiple targets posted at varying unknown distances.
We teach that you that your mind is the weapon. The rifle is merely a tool.
Are you up to the challenge?

I've had drill or been out of town every match you've advertised so far.  One of these months...because it sure sounds like a good time.

Not sure I'm up to speed, considering it's been 20 years since I've done anything like this.  I've been wondering lately if there was something along these lines available.  Definitly need practice though.

Pfft..no worries. The worst that can happen is you'll come in last and cut me and Jeff a break.

As long as you can safely handle a firearm, you're more than welcome.
This isn't a good old boy club full of cliques. We don't much care about your skill level or how out of practice you are. Everyone has to start somewhere.

This looks like a blast(pun intended!)  I can't do this month or next, but June is looking pretty good.

That looks like a ton of fun.  What type of equipment is needed for this, I didn't see any mention on the site (aside from calibre).  I see vests, drop leg holsters, etc.

How many rounds would you recommend a person to bring for both handgun and rifle?

All you need is a rifle with sling, a pistol with holster, some way to carry your spare mags, and a desire to have a good time.

I advise folks to bring 200 rounds for rifle and 50 rounds for pistol. We have never shot that much at a match, save for the Combat Rifle Championship match, but if you bring that much, you don't have to worry about running out of ammo mid match.

Thanks GunnFixr,

I have a parts kit on order and if it gets here on time, I will try to make it.  Sounds like this would be a good chance to get some pointers and have some fun.

If it doesn't get here on time, I have an M4 to lend...
