FINAL WEEK FOR LEGISLATION TO PASS OR FAIL

I spoke with people in the legislators' offices today. These bills could go for vote at any time, although typically the votes occur Tuesdays thru Thursdays. If we defeat these bills now, then they will be DEAD til next year, because the end of the legislative session is August 31st. The most effective measure at this point would be to fax a letter to each of their offices. At the very least, please try to make a few phone calls. We appreciate everyone's help in seeing these bills beaten back - heck if it wasn't for all the pressure we've been putting on them so far, I am 100% certain that they would have been passed already!! Please fax or call again - we need all the help we can get.  Remember when writing or faxing to put in BIG BOLD LETTERS UP AT THE TOP the bills you oppose and a request for them to VOTE NO ON BILL #"XX".

AB 50 - 50 caliber ban - goes to Full Senate for vote
AB-50 will most likely be heard this coming week in the full Senate - defeating this bill in the senate is extremely critical as this will be our best chance of beating it. If it passes the Senate, it will go back to the Assembly and they have until August 31st to get it out of the Assembly. Traditionally what they do is stop the clock on the Assembly floor at 5 minutes to 12 on the night of the 31st and just go thru the bills until they get them all done. More than likely, if this comes out of the Senate they will make the effort to get it read in the Assembly. Stopping it in the Senate is very crucial. Please contact your state senator ASAP - contact info is here:
http://www.nramemberscouncils.com/legs/sen.shtml

SB 1152 - fingerprint & paper trail for ammo purchases!
It has passed thru all committees and is on the Assembly floor for a vote by the full assembly.  It will most likely be heard this coming week. The entire list of assembly members is here:
http://www.nramemberscouncils.com/legs/asm.shtml

SB 1140 - Would make it a crime if a minor gains access to your firearms!
It has passed thru all committees and is on the Assembly floor for a vote by the full assembly.  It will most likely be heard this coming week. The entire list of assembly members is here:
http://www.nramemberscouncils.com/legs/asm.shtml

NOTE: SB1152 AND SB1140 will both come before the full assembly - so you can kill 2 birds with one stone by faxing opposition to both bills at the same time.

At the VERY LEAST, please contact YOUR assembly person and tell the to VOTE NO. You can find your assembly person's info here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/yourleg.html  Be sure to call their Sacramento office, as they are all up there to vote.

This is the last push - please warm up the fax machine and let 'em have it!!! Thank you for all your efforts!!!

Jolynne

AB50 PASSES THRU THE SENATE- One Last Chance to Beat It!

I received an email notifying me of this terrible news - then I confirmed it with people in Paul Koretz's office. AB50 now goes to the full Assembly to be voted on again. These bills could go for vote at any time- PROBABLY TOMORROW. Please fax a letter to each of their offices or at the very least, please try to make a few phone calls.  Remember when faxing to put in BIG BOLD LETTERS UP AT THE TOP the bills you oppose and a request for them to VOTE NO ON AB50.

Get the template from our website!!! http://www.50bmgstore.com/beatAB50.htm

YOU CAN USE THE LETTER I'VE CREATED and simply replace the name, address and phone info with your own. Get it from our website - the EASIEST WAY I COULD MAKE IT. These documents contain a fax to every democrat - all you have to do is substitute YOUR info.

I know not everyone has Wordperfect, so I am working on a Microsoft Word version also - I will update the page ASAP. THANK YOU!!!

I have marked all democrats' names below with XXXX so you can concentrate your efforts on calling and faxing those members. Please call the Sacramento offices FIRST, and if you have spare time (what's that?), then fax and call theor local offices(their info is also on the website download the Word document - Assembly member info - http://www.50bmgstore.com/forms/assemblyinfo.doc ).

We are outnumbered, but we may be able to persuade some of our opposition to side with us. How about common sense?

You can listen to the live webcast of the assembly floor session here tomorrow: http://www.calchannel.com/webcast.htm. So send your faxes and tune in.

At the VERY LEAST, please contact YOUR assembly person and tell the to VOTE NO. You can find your assembly person's info here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/yourleg.html  Be sure to call their Sacramento office, as they are all up there to vote.

This is our last chance - please warm up the fax machine and let 'em have it!!! Thank you for all your efforts!!!

Never give up!

Maybe one good thing about this, break out all of your unregistered pre-ban AR type rifles. Buy a .50 BMG upper and then register them as a .50, change them back whenever you want and they're still legal, even with those 20 & 30rd mags in them!

Whose got a line on some 80% lowers? I think it might be time to buy a few.

50 shooter -- caliber of an AR lower doesnt matter, the fact that its an AR anything is what makes it illegal.

so it would be a BAD idea to try and register an unregistered AR or to try and make an 80%.

There's the 80% with the blocked mag well, those should be legal, and an 80% should be legal also.  This has possibilities, and you don't need a 50 upper to do it.

CALL AND FAX NOW, DON'T FORGET FRIENDS AND FAMILY TOO!!!

Carol Liu is my Assemblyman, I will call her today. I think the field offices also talk to the people in Sacremento, so calling the field office is just like calling the main Sacramento. So for some of us who have to pay the telco charge for calling Sacramento, calling the assemblyman's field office would be the best bet.

Does anyone know where it is, did it pass in the senate?

AB-50 senate 21-14 60%
SB-1152 senate 22-16 58%
SB1140 no action

Don't know if majority means 51% or 60%, though.

Next stop, Arnold's desk.

From what I've heard, you'll have to be in posession on the .50 before Jan 1st and have them registered by Apr 1st. To me this seems impossible, how are they going to notify everyone and then get the forms to have them registered by Apr 1st. I guess that's why they made it Apr. 1st (fools day).

It's really bad when the cockroaches aren't afraid to come out during daylight.  These fucktards in Sacramento need to be tar and feathered.

But the rules seem to matter very little in Sacramento. Shortly after voting to send the fifty caliber ban to a well-deserved grave, California Democrats called for a "re-vote" and we watched as a handful of Democrats pressed the vote button at their own desk, then calmly walked to the empty desk of another member of the Assembly and voted a second time. This, we learn, is what California Legislators call "Ghost Voting." Nobody there is shocked because "they do it all the time." Ah, I see...

I'm missing something, a vote was taken, some of the senators left, another vote was called, and the ghost voting happened.  Why doesn't the assembly person who originally voted NO and left, complain?

Holy crap!  You guys in Kali have got a serious problem with ghost voting.  Especially if the assembly member you're counting on doesn't hang around for the "real" vote.  How did this become accepted?  The SC legislature better not be pulling this kind of crap!

I can't figure out if the 50s would be registered the same as AW's or if they'd be registered some other way (destructive devices?)

Who makes an 80% with a blocked mag well?

there will be NO intention to notify everyone of the law, they dont care if you get arrested for a weapons violation because you didnt know the law.
oh sure they will have some money (2 bucks worth) for 10 second commerical at 3am on channel 28 about registering your 50bmg, just so they can say they followed the law and TRIED to notify gun owners.
5 years later some people in kali STILL DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE STATE AWB, how it affects them and that the gun they own is in violation.
the beauty of it (for the DOJ) is that you get arrested, your guns confiscated, the DOJ gets a pat on the back and more funding, so more gun laws can be passed and more law abiding citizens can get arrested.

the 50s will prolly go into the same list as handguns and AWs

The problem in the CA legislature is why single-party rule is to be avoided at all costs.  Republicans in the CA senate and assembly are a weak 1/3 of the members, and they have very little say in what rules get made or broken.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.  If the CA legislature was 2/3 Republican they'd be pulling some other shit that was just as bad.
