6 Months ago today, I was printed, and turned in my Nassau County pistol license.  I haven't heard anything yet.  With the application they give you a piece of paper with very large print that says "You will be notified in 6 months DO NOT CALL".  How long do I wait before calling?

For what is costs to apply for a pistol license in NC the police commissioner should come to your house and present it to you on a silver platter with a glass of champagne and an assortment of petits fours.

Wow.  This makes me feel a bit better about not recieving it in the mail.  I called and got the name and number of the officer assigned to my application.  He was not around.  Wondering if I should let it takes its course or call him directly and find out what's going on.
