It's been discussed here:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=20&t=426420

The topic line doesn't really make it apparent, but the discussion subject switched to 60, 61 and 101.

I voted yes on all.

And I still can't figure how getting voter approval on deficit spending, borrowing, and taxes increases is "going too far" or "extreme."  It's like saying Democracy is going too far––I thought big gov leftists loved Democracy?  Maybe only when it works for them?!?

Another one I thought was interesting was 100.  I had to break out the tinfoil.  What kind of emergency could happen in Denver that is so severe and prolonged that we would need to relocate the legislature?  Or are lawmakers simply realizing what I saw years ago when I moved out of Denver; a SHTF situation would be worst there.

Thoughts?

How much longer will it take the politicians to fix it if they dont have to live with it.  Fuck em, come on down to ground zero SHTF.

I agree!

What's remarkable is that they (State House) has no power in an emergency.  The Governor has all the power.  FEMA, National Guard, all fall under him.  It's like they are simply scared of something or some scenario.  Maybe they don't want to be accessible given the current political climate?

ETA:  And if they did relocate, would all legislators be given appropriate notice?  (i.e.  party lines)

Just went to the 9 News website and the first thing I see is a banner filling my screen saying "NO" on 60, 61, 101...now why would a news organization allow that type of advertising?  I wish there was some vote "Yes" ads out there somewhere...anyone see any?

I have to say as much as i like some of the things in each one. I am voting no on each.  I  personally hate Doug Bruce. He has his stench all over these.  It might be a good thing where the Liberal Democrats run the rest of the state. It will put the area where I live in a hurt fast. We are already running at about half the taxes of the rest of the state and doing fine. We could trim the budget a bit. This I fear will kill our roads and bridges. The majority of our bridges need repaired anyway.

Too bad we can't seem to do this locally where it would make more sense. I would love to see a ton of the social programs cut and the money returned to the tax payers.  But for some reason the rest of the state seems to love the liberal democrats that are ruining this state.

I just got an automatic spam call on my cell phone for 60,61, and 101, asking me to vote yes.  This is illegal per federal law.

Fuckers blocked their caller ID, nor did they announce what group they're working for.

I'm seriously considering writing an extremely nasty letter to the backers of 60,61,and 101, and telling to fuck off and that they just got a "NO" vote for wasting my cell minutes and my time.

Fucking idiots spam my phone, they're going to lose my support

I think things are changing.

I run a blog and the post with the #1 hits is my ranting over the lic plate "fees" and Ritter.  People are pissed.  It's taken a long time for the folks to feel the heat, but that's one thing about liberals is they have a polarizing effect.  You are either with them, or you're an American.

Absolutely reasonable logic, allow the government to continue fraudulent spending that is in direct violation of TABOR which probably costs you hundreds if not thousands a year to spite someone for a phone call that probably cost you 10 cents.  And people wonder how things got this bad....

I got into a "little" conversation with a Liberal co-worker on Wednesday.

She was proudly telling everyone that she voted no on all three and we should as well.  I asked if she supported regressive taxation.

Her response:

I explained what a regressive tax is and that 101 repeals the regressive license plate tax ("fee") that Ritter imposed.  That the new fees cost the guy with a $3,000 1995 Honda Accord the same as the guy with the brand new $80,000 Land Rover.  (Suspend your morality for a moment, I'm talking to a Liberal) One of these guys can afford to pay more, the other can't.

Her response:

The Dems are firmly against any reduction in taxes even when it is consistent with their ideology of progressive taxation.  This is interesting.  I think it's probably back-lash against the Tea Party, but who knows.  They vote as they're told.

The measures are too extreme and likely to fail, but I am voting for them anyway because I want them not to lose in a landslide, the elected officials need to know people are hurting and need tax relief.

I "like" the scare tactics in the vote no commericials.  "...Businessess will close,... voter approved recession" and the rest of the BS.  These "vote no" idiots need to read the Broken Window Fallacy.  Where do they think this money originates?  60 and 61 may be a little harsh, and I don't think that 101 is harsh.  Even if they are a bit harsh, I'm voting for them anyway.  I have a push-back and push-back hard attitude these days.  Some of these politicians and those that vote for them are out of control and need to have their belts tightened for them.

If you have kids in public education, you will vote no for all of these.  schools are already at a huge deficit, made big cuts last year, will be doing so again at the end of this year.  If this passes those cuts will be even more extreme.  My wife is a teacher, middle school, and has on average 35 7th graders in each class, way too many kids to have a strong impact on each kid.  and you wonder why our education system is struggling...

if this passes you will see teachers lose their jobs...not the administrators (where the cuts need to be made), and you will see that your son or daughter is now being taught college lecture style in 5th grade...good luck to them learning how to read.

I want to see the .gov suffer as well, but these bills are extreme and are not focused.  it is a generalized cut-throat move and will not be effective.

Any cops and firemen on here?  those guys will suffer severely as well.

want to watch the backlash of cops pulling everyone over going 2mph over the limit because 1/4 of their buddies lost their jobs?

I bought a new truck this year and paid damn near $600 for the plates, this is absolutely ridiculous.  prop 101 would have made the cost $11.

as much as I would love to only pay $11 a year for my plates, that major cut is too extreme.

for a better perspective representative of a lot of the arfcommers...it would be like sewing shut the mouth of a biggest loser competitor and expecting them to simply eat off themselves for a while and make everything work and look good.  aint gonna happen.

I like the idea of cutting the state income tax year over year by say .5 % at a time down to 3% or 3.5%.

Rewriting 101 to only charge sales tax on a vehicle 1 time in its lifetime (in the state of colorado) would help.  you could resell your vehicle or buy a vehicle that has been registered in colorado without state sales tax applied.

the registration could be cut year over year down to a more acceptable level of say $25 or $30 a year no matter what the make or model (a lot like Nebraska...I believe theirs is $20 a year).

Doing everything all at once in such a quick and harsh manner will cripple all the sources that rely on that funding.

I understand, I work in private industry, which is highly regulated by the feds.  I also substitute teach, my wife, sister, brother in law are all current teachers, my parents and 2 uncles are retired teachers, several of my friends are sheriffs and police officers and one is a fireman.

the economy would boom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I pay close to 10,000 (yes, that's right, 10 grand) a year in registration fees.

Knocking that down even by half goes straight back into the business or my pocket where it gets spent, instead of wasted by .gov.

spent locally to be recycled by other business's.

all making their sales tax money.

We have been put in this position by government.  And if we don't make drastic cuts we could end up like Greece, France, or worse.

Rhetorical question time;  what happens if everyone goes Galt?  What happens to education and funding then?  What happens when the dollar implodes from gov spending/debt?  What happens if we have a second Civil War because people do not want to be responsible for what government has done?

And before you think I'm being extreme, get out and talk to folks.  They've had it!

Right now the entitlement crowd is striking (what that means I don't know) but what happens when the producers strike?  And not a 8/28-like demonstration, but a true strike where we only work for ourselves on our terms or not at all.

THAT is something we can't afford!

I bought a new truck this year and paid damn near $600 for the plates, this is absolutely ridiculous.  prop 101 would have made the cost $11.

as much as I would love to only pay $11 a year for my plates, that major cut is too extreme.

We currently spend more per student in the US for education and have some of the worst educated students.  We could easily spend less and get the same results.  Spending more and more money has done nothing but hurt our kids education so I am more then willing to give spending less a shot.  Personally I do not think that education should be a .gov institution.  Privatize all education and stop all .gov spending on it.  Department of Education should shut down, what has it done but raise the price and lower the quality of the education in the US.

My daughter is only three, but I would be holding the same position even if she was already in K-12.

Fuck the cops and teachers.  Tell them welcome to my world.  And I too voted yes.

Sorry Sniper7,

I am voting yes and continue to encourage everyone I meet to do the same.

I homeschool, and make tremendous sacrifices to make sure my children get an education, it is not the responsibility of government to educate my children. Nor is it your responsibility to pay for my childrens education.

While I am sorry that your wife is a teacher and may suffer if these pass, it does not make me pause.

No i understand why people would vote yes and would want to see the drastic cuts.  I would love to see my taxes reduced as these are proposed.  i am sure if my wife and other family members weren't teachers I wouldn't have looked as closely at the effects of these bills passing and voted yes.

I am glad you homeschool and think kids get a better education that way, not as much of the social interaction but as long as they get out and get involved it is much better...probably ten fold.

The focus I think is poor, right now the state of colorado wastes/loses out on over 500 million a year due to illegal immigrants just on public education.  private education would definitely fix this, as would strict and very harsh immigration laws.  free and reduced lunches for these kids causes a huge budget deficit.  That money alone would more than fix any education budget deficits.

I can't blame the kids though as it isn't their fault their parents brought them in illegally.

The other problem will be the result of cuts due to reduced budgets.  what needs to happen is the administration numbers need to be reduced.  i see far too many admins in comparison to teachers.  Teachers are very responsible and need very little management yet they have several positions above them which IMO are needless.  Those jobs are going to be protected for the most part and the new (less than 3 years of experience) teachers will be cut.  result:  more kids in each classroom with an end result of kids not learning as much.

Maybe these bills will crash the system and it can start over, that could be a good thing as well, just as I thought it would be if GM and Chrysler were allowed to fail.

Hopefully people don't take for granted that their kids are essentially babysat 5 days a week 8 hours a day with transportation provided to most for a relatively low cost compared to private childcare/education.

to each his own, guess we will see what the end result is when it comes to fruition.
