Better than 30 uniformed Chicago police officers swarmed down on the state capitol this afternoon, but they couldn't help save the latest Daley Gun Grab from a serious trouncing.
House Bill 2579, recently amended with a "one gun a month" provision was defeated on the floor of the Senate this afternoon by a 36 to 23 vote. If it had passed, the bill would have dealt a serious blow to your right to keep and bear arms.
Watching from the visitor's gallery high above the Senate floor were more than 30 uniformed Chicago police officers who had driven down to Springfield to lobby legislators in favor of the bill. Yes, that's right...Chicago cops...on the payroll...at taxpayer expense...lobbying legislators to take your gun rights away.
Now, that's a crime.
The bill's defeat was, in large part, thanks to all your phone calls to your senators and representatives. Keep up the good work!
