I just got a notification in mail to update my CHL via the internet-if
you have two or more renewals with testing and shooting, you can go
online and answer the questions, pay the money with a credit card, and
they send you a card with a new date.  Has anyone else gotten this
notification?

Thats been standard for awhile or maybe the whole time. After so many renewals you didn't have to take the class anymore. It was like renewing your DL.

Yup,  showed up ready to take a class and just paid the renewal fee and left.

Isn't every third renewal?  I believe you will need to take the class and shooting test on your next renewal.  Isn't grand that you get to buy your God given rights from the state.

Beginning with your third renewal, you only need a CHL-100 (course completion paperwork) to be sent to DPS every other time you renew. So, 3rd renewal - no course. 4th - course. 5th - no course, and so on. If you decide to do a course anyways on your third renewal, then it would look like this: 4th - no course, 5th - course, 6th - no course, etc.

<––- On my last day of the CHL Instructor course in Georgetown, so it's fresh on my mind.

ETA: This is exactly how the DPS applications girls explained it to my class on Wednesday.

After your third renewal you can do the online renewal with no class or qualification, you are still required to attend class/qualification every tens years though.

I just renewed mine last week in about 5 minutes and half the license fee (veteran).  Saving a day of class, priceless!

If I don't believe in your god do I still get those rights?

Good point, I'd like to know that myself.

The God to which he refers extends those rights to all people.  It is simply because our God believes in YOU.  ;)

I got my CHL in '96, so this will be my 5th renewal in 2013. Can you do the entire renewal process on line, or do you still have to get a new picture and fingerprints to mail in?

No prints or photos for anyone on renewal.
