I see three amendments online as of right now. I'm looking for a 4th. The amendments all appear to be more than simple verbiage fixes.
Proposed by Kinney, Dawson, and Johnson. Dawson is the floor manager, so I would assume his new version will pass. |

At ease now waiting on amendments to be passed out..
Amendments appear to be adding a live fire requirement to the permit section by Kenny. Striking the use of force if another including retreat is viable, seems to want to keep criminals from using it weeks later. Striking what appears to be unnecessary verbiage regarding permits renewal. Amendment to youth shooting. Adult supervisor Can't be intoxicate or under the influence. - amendment passes 50-0 Amendment to remove capital carry defeated. The change to the stand your ground provision appears to be the meat if I am reading these right. |

Linn Co (Ikes) had something like 80% at 25yds test that eliminated many people who otherwise should have been able to carry. |

Does someone have a link to the feed? I thought it was going to be televised ?

Kenny amendment to internet training requiring someone taking an online class to have to show proficiency, i.e. Shooting. Kenny is saying shooting or showing "proficiency" i.e. Knowing one end of the gun from the other although that's is not what the amendment reads.
It says "applicant has shown proficiency with a handgun on a firing range" Apparently as an officer some woman took an internet class and then walked into the station and pointed a pink glock at him and asked for help learning to use it. Amendment failed however it was closer at 21 yes and 29 no |

View Quote Lol, this Johnson from Osceola is a real tool. Like a law banning a firearm at the Capital is going to actually stop anyone from showing up there. nvm, cannot even watch the feed with all these piece of crap gun grabbers talking :/ I just pray it passes the Senate. |

with what amendments ?
haha taken from IGO page.... are they asking for you to kill it and send some money for next year?? |
|
Just that part of it or the entire Omnibus 517 Bill? You people have to be clear. It was never called Stand your ground, that was just one portion of the bill.
|
|
The whole bill.
But now it has to go back to the House because of the amendments |
|
Would any amendments have to be rectified with the House then? I just don't want to get my hopes up and declare victory before it is official? I heard before that if the Senate Ammends it, it then goes back to the House where they accept the amendments, or do not in which case it goes before a joint House/Senate Committee to try to work out the changes.
Does anyone exactly know what went down so that we can either pop the cork, or prepare for what happens next in the state house? |

Ok, cool. Yeah it does have to go back to the House then I see for a vote on the amendments, but according to IFC the House should not have any issues. Wonder when this last vote will come up.. hopefully very soon.

For the bill that legalized Suppressors,
HF 2279: AN ACT RELATING TO POSSESSING AND TRANSFERRING FIREARM SUPPRESSORS C. A certification that has been approved under this section grants the person the authority to make or transfer a firearm suppressor as provided by state and federal law. I see nothing in HF517, that grants us authority to own or make SBR or SBS? What am i missing? |

Division 1, Offensive Weapons
Section 724.1C Short barreled boomstick section. Enjoy! |

So, "in violation of Federal law" means legal to own and possess in the State of Iowa? Thats all im seeing. Nothing definitive? View Quote |

I need to find out Rep Windschitl's favorite beer and send him a case. Half for all he's done for 2A in Iowa over the years, half for that amazing speech.

Nice, ok thats the first explaination that makes sense to me. Thanks for the clarification View Quote I'm not the greatest at legalese. It would be cool if we could get a bullet point list of every single thing added/changed in the bill. |

Yeah, they kinda did some things weirdly. Instead of actually stating "this is now legal" they just literally drew lines through sections that said it was illegal lol. I am assuming the final printed bill will just have those parts ommitted instead of being left with strikeouts through them I'm not the greatest at legalese. It would be cool if we could get a bullet point list of every single thing added/changed in the bill. View Quote But I believe this would fall under the "if its not illegal, then it is legal" thing. |

I am not a lawyer. At all. But I believe this would fall under the "if its not illegal, then it is legal" thing. View Quote The offensive weapons part was omited, but i see nothing that says sbs and sbr are now legal to buy/own/make. Thats what i really need to see to get my good feelings and to get excited. You would think that if somethings that is an NFA item (and so scary) would have a crystal clear explination like the suppressor statement. |
