I have chance to purchase a gun that's on my bucket list - an early gallery gun.  Remington Model 12A  It's chambered for .22 short, long, and LR.  It's a take down model.  The bore is nice and there's no surface rust.  The wood is a little beat up, but not bad.  Almost $500 asking price - I was thinking offering $400 -is that too much?

I never mentioned Center Sports - how did you know  Jimmy just put the tag on it while I was there last night.  I'll start at $300 and see where it goes...

You may be able to use the forend checkering as a negotiating point.

Thanks JAD!  I stopped by tonight and pointed out that the checkering wasn't factory so the collector value goes down.  Also - the barrel has been cut down to 18" and the re-crown isn't Remington's crown profile.  The stock has been cut down as well to a 12" LOP.   It does function with modern ammo well...  I wasn't looking to buy it as a collector piece - I was looking to buy it as a functional plinker that I wanted since I was a kid  I offered $300, but someone may have beat me to it
