anyone suggest a shop in anchorage that will have 1911 parts and not make me feel like an ass ... trying to turn a full size into a commander size , and some CCW use afterwards

Ihave seen parts at Northern Security. I think your best bet though is Brownells mail order.

well this is all sorta useless now .. found out that I cant just put a regular old 1911 commander size barrell and frame on my full size , what a waste of a pistol now ... I hate full size .....typical of my luck

I'll take that crappy full size off your hands then...

I've been looking into doing the opposite of what you want...  Full size barrel and frame on a commander frame... kind of like a mini-longslide...
