I was just discussing 1911 mods with Chopsuey and Joe_Blacke the other day. I spoke to them separately, and they both were interested in similar mods for their guns. It got me to thinking that it might be nice for about 3 or 4 guys to get together to do some minor 1911 mods, such as a trigger job, reliability job, a beavertail installation, maybe a safety installation, some metal checkering or stippling, maybe a magwell, and deburring of the sharp edges.

If anyone is interested, post here. I know for sure Chopsuey is up for it. I think Joe_Black would be interested, and if anyone else wants to, let me know. For the first time, we'll limit the numbers since space and equipment is limited. If there is more response than exepcted, I'll do it again later in the year.

This would be an ongoing project that would take several weekends, and will probably involve post gunsmithing beers and barbeque. You will need to have your parts ahead of time, obviously, and at least some basic tools and a Dremel tool. A small clamp on vise would be necessary too. If there is any interest in this, I'll post further on exact details and equipment/tool needs.

YES!

Okay, so I'm more than just a little interested.

This would be awesome. I've always wanted to do one of the online Patriot builds, but I think this is even better. We would have a true artist to show us the craft.

YES! I've got a parts kit I need to build.

Cool, that's 3 people here, and 3 over at the Az Shooting Forums. Let's take the rest of this to IM. Guys, IM me your phone numbers, and I'll do the same for you guys. I'll make phone calls tomorrow afternoon, and we'll go from there. I'm on vacation next week, so the earliest I can do this is 3 weekends from now. I look forward to it.

Lisa says this weekend!

Seriously though, this weekend is out for me, and next weekend I'll be in Kali, so let me look at the weekend of 8/13 - 8/14. Everyone is going to need to get their parts and whatever small tools necessary anyway.

Az_newguy, if you're up for this, IM me a number I can contact you at. Withyou, there are three from here, and I have three from the Az Shooting Forums board. If you can't do it in the next few weeks, let me know, and I'll put someone else in. We can always do it later in the year. Thanks.

John

I know there are more in your future, as you obviously have an addiction!

We'll consider this gruop build 1, and if this sewing circle works out, we can make it a regular thing.

Hey John

If you need any help, I may be able to stop by. Weekends are my regular work days but I'm working graveyards, let me know.

Damn, I was wondering where you were. I forgot your username. Guys, this man knows his 1911 sh*t! If anyone is looking for custom work from a local guy who is unknown, does not have an ego, and is noce to deal with, talk to him, though I don't know if he is available. I've just seen his work, and it's good!

John, I got a job locally so no more working in Kali anymore, so I'll be around. Guys, John is really overstating my skills, I'm just another wannabe gun plumber.

... Bullshirt!

... Take the night off - go buy a bare-bones, box-stock 1911 and lets go join the party. I have (5) already built 1911s - (6) is a nice round number!

Hobbs,
My garage is ready now, so lets plan a date. With the new job I won't be on call anymore so I'll be around to do this any time. Who was planning on doing this?

Mike, you name the day. This coming weekend is good for me. However, that means no shooting that weekend for me also. So far, Joe_Blacke is on for sure. Mike M, how about you?

I'll make myself available. I've got all the parts and tools I need.

I'm in.
