Guys,

There has been some interest in having a 10-8 carbine class here in Southern California. While I am used to travelling to more friendly locations to teach for 10-8 as well as with EAG/Pat Rogers, there appears to be sufficient demand to do one here. So, if you guys are interested, here is the skinny:

10-8 Consulting will be hosting a 3-day Intermediate/Advanced Carbine Operator's Course in Southern California at the Prado Olympic Shooting Park.

It is true there is no such thing as an "advanced gunfight", thus the curriculum will include a review of the fundamentals. Once that is accomplished, we will address issues such as shooting from asymmetrical positions, shooting on the move, strong hand only, weak hand shooting, barricade shooting, diagnostic drills, team movement, etc.,

Included in the curriculum will be an Advanced Operator Troubleshooting and Maintenance Course taught by Colt Factory Armorer Instructor Dean Caputo. Each student will learn how to properly diagnose problems and address the common (and not so common) issues that surround the AR15/M16 platform. Each student will also learn maintenance tips and tricks to keep their carbine running reliably, even in harsh conditions.

Ammunition requirements will be a MINIMUM of 1200 rounds carbine and 150 rounds pistol. As usual, the pace of the course will be dictated by the students, and we may or may not meet or exceed the estimated round count.

I'm a member at Prado and am very intrestd in this, but have  CA offlist Ar's. Will that be a no go in the class? 10 rounds at a time. PM me if need be. I do have 20 preban 30 round mags.

I would not recommend trying to make it through a class of this type with a fixed 10 round magazine. It would not only be frustrating to you, but thirty minutes into the class, everyone else will be forming a lynching party.

The best option is for you to find another student that has a spare, legally registered lower receiver. You can then place your upper and accessories onto that lower. As long as the registered owner is on the premises, it is legal for you to shoot it. At the end of each day, the lower needs to go back to the owner for the night.

BEN LENETT
Ben Lenett is the Law Enforcement Programs Manager for Eagle Industries, an industry leader in the area of tactical nylon products. Ben is a retired law enforcement officer from a Northern Arizona agency, formerly assigned as a Patrol Deputy. He is an AZ POST certified instructor, involved in both Firearms and Less-Lethal Instruction. In addition to his departmental duties as an agency armorer, Ben was involved with the testing and procurement of both ballistic protection and load bearing equipment for multiple area SWAT units. Ben is also a Staff Instructor at the Gunsite Academy and EAG General Enterprises, Inc. teaching Pistol, Carbine, and Shotgun. Additionally, Ben has a significant experience in several different styles of martial arts and unarmed combatives.

DEAN CAPUTO
Dean Caputo has served as a sergeant on the Arcadia PD as an officer since 1982 currently as patrol supervisor, and the supervisor in charge of the Force Training unit (FTU) since 1994. He has done a 5 yr tour as the supervisor in the Detective Bureau and is in charge of all major investigations. Dean has also done a 5 year tour on a DEA task force (part of the largest seizure of cocaine in the world). He is a Colt Factory Armorer Instructor on the M16/AR15 and "O" frame (1911) pistol since 1993. Dean has been an NRA Police Firearms Instructor, CA POST Firearms instructor/Rangemaster and a less lethal and ballistic shield instructor. Dean is also an Adjunct Instructor at the Gunsite Academy.


TIM LAU
Tim Lau is a full time law enforcement officer with a municipal department in Los Angeles County, CA, serving as a night shift patrolman, department Rangemaster and Armorer. Tim is an instructor for EAG General Enterprises, Inc., Operational Skills Group LLC, along with other national training providers, and has current instructor certifications from FBI, NRA, Surefire, Simunitions, CA POST, and teaches Edged Weapons, Pistol, Carbine, Shotgun and Submachine Gun. Tim is a former Instructor for Gunsite. In addition, Tim has over a decade of martial arts experience, to include Aikido, Kali/Escrima/Arnis, Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Indonesian Silat, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I feel your pain, but I've got to go to Memphis, MO, that weekend.

Bring lots of water, it'll be warm out there that time of year.  I'd sign up, but until the DOJ does something that allows me to use all these 20 and 30 rd mags, it would be pointless.

sounds like so much fun!!!!h.gif DAMMIT i have an offlist ar and don't have the "proper" credentials...is there an age limit on this thing? for example i'm under 21 and have no pistol, is it okay to use a relative's pistol(who will be there at the time of the classes or possibly be participating)

If you can make arrangements to be there, you need to, 10-8 is probably the best training school on the road.  Everything Tim teaches will be on par with Pat Rogers, since Tim is Pat's right hand man. so this is the best thing next to taking an actual Pat Rogers class.  if you are serious about your carbine craft, you should attend this class.

I send in my reg form and I eagerly wait for the date to arrive.
