Sorry, I forgot and let this post get archived. With a new ILGA session starting mid-Jan 2021, I figured it was worth a repost since we don't know what the ILGA will be doing.
This will allow future reference without repeating information in potential forthcoming committee hearing postings.
If something is not clear or needs to be added, please offer your suggestions. Sorry if there's too much info...added a TL;DR edit.
Firearm and related bills may be listed on a committee agenda but they may not get called due to bill volume that day, lack of votes, etc. Committees are typically stacked with a majority of Dems and Pro 2A bills often get voted down but we need to make positions heard.
--> Note: If a hearing is rescheduled, new witness slips need to be refiled <--
How to file a witness slip
If you register on the ILGA dashboard, you can change your position if a mistake is made filling out the slip, otherwise the position is not changeable. Regardless, PLEASE VERIFY YOUR POSITION BEFORE SUBMITTING!
Registering on the ILGA Dashboard also allows you to:
- Save all of your user information such as name, address, phone number, email, business and representation, eliminating the need to re-enter on each witness slip submitted.
- Create a witness slip in just a few clicks.
- View all of your witness slips filed for each chamber for the current GA.
- Filter and sort by committee name, date/time and legislation number.
- Update user information, testimony and positions on filed witness slips.
Witness slip FAQ and ILGA user guide:
Again, please double check your position proponent/opponent/neutral (really...does filing a neutral position help?) before submitting or be sure to register so mistakes can be corrected.
In addition to a bill's status page, dates of committee hearings, bills on the committee agenda, tracking and filing witness slips may also be found on the ILGA dashboard http://my.ilga.gov (left column committee hearings).
-Submitted bills go through committee hearings before getting to a floor debate and vote.
-Witness slips allow one to make their bill positions known to legislators and counts are read into the record (I think).
-Registering at http://my.ilga.gov/Account/Register makes it easier to submit/change/correct opponent/proponent positions.
-Login and create/submit your witness slip position. See http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32865 or youtube video below.
-If a hearing is rescheduled, slips need to be refiled.
-Will try to post bill alerts and links when possible.
Bump to keep active...
Bump for upcoming committee hearings
Early bump to delay archival
Another bump for the recent bills, HB0562 and amendments, that need to be opposed and defeated.
Also updated a changed ISP link.
Enhanced red flag law going to governor, other close to finish line but not law yet. ISRA hit hard for neutral stance. Tough week for Illinois gunners.
