We've got several different threads on this topic.  I thought a single consolidated thread would make more sense.

I'll start it out with a general overview article I just read at Fivethirtyeight:  Early Look at Georgia's Governor's Race

After meeting with Trump, Georgia’s Vernon Jones likely to exit GOP gubernatorial primary

A likely announcement by gubernatorial candidate Vernon Jones that he’s dropping out of Georgia’s GOP primary could come as early as Friday.

Two Republican sources familiar with the situation told Fox News on Wednesday that after meeting last week with Donald Trump and being offered the former president’s backing if he instead runs for Congress or another statewide office, Jones is currently "weighing his options."

And they add that an announcement by the former Democratic state lawmaker turned Republican, who was a top Black surrogate for Trump in Georgia in the 2020 presidential election, could come between Friday and Monday.

Jones, who launched his 2022 gubernatorial campaign last April, is one of a handful of GOP candidates primary challenging conservative Gov. Brian Kemp.

LINKY to story that Vernon Jones is out of the gubernatorial race.

He is backing David Perdue.

He is running for Congress but hasn't announced which seat.  Speculation is that it will be the district North of Atlanta or East of Atlanta.  This is confirmation of the news contained in the 2/4/22 post by Extorris at the top of this page.

NOTE:  Neither this post nor the post immediately above, is an endorsement of any candidate or political party.

This is a good strategic move by Trump.  Perdue is swamp, but he and his Brother Sonny have kissed the MAGA ring.  His goal will be to be GA's version of DeSantis.   Vernon can win the 10th easily with Trump's endorsement and as a former dem who has gone 180 to MAGA he knows where the dirt is and he has been slamming Black politicians for their failures with regards to the Black community.  Vernon can definitely act as a wrecking ball.  If you thought MTG was a firebrand, what till Vernon is burr under the establishment saddle.

Kemp can't win.  He has all the advantages of incumbency and political positioning, but there are a large percentage of registered republicans, such as myself that will never vote for him again under any circumstances.

Vernon is a racist with a lot of baggage. He is far from a shoe in.  Perdue sucked before as an option I doubt he is any better. He seems like a guy who will say anything for the job.

Judge: Kemp can’t use leadership committee funds for primary

A “leadership committee” created by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp under a new state law must stop spending money to get the governor reelected during the Republican primary, a federal judge ruled Monday.

Former U.S. Sen. David Perdue, who’s challenging Kemp in the primary, last month filed a lawsuit challenging the new law. Perdue and his campaign allege that the law gives Kemp a significant and unfair fundraising and spending advantage in the primary and asked the judge to declare it unconstitutional.

The law, passed by state legislators last year and signed by Kemp, allows certain top elected officials, including the governor and party nominees, to create leadership committees that can raise campaign funds without limits, including during a legislative session. Just after the law took effect in July, Kemp created the Georgians First Leadership Committee.

U.S. District Judge Mark Cohen found that Perdue’s lawsuit was likely to succeed and issued an order granting a preliminary injunction. It immediately prohibits Georgians First from spending money to advocate for Kemp’s reelection or his opponent’s defeat during the primary and any primary runoff.

This is an aside to the governor's race.
Ya'll have seen me post multiple times that I voted for PDJT. In my mind I can defend alot of stuff that he did or didn't do. But let's talk about draining the swamp for just a minute.
Perdue is a swamp critter. No question, no doubt.
I don't know anything about Hice, but some of ya'll have posted that he's a rino. So he's another swamp critter.
A few days ago Jones was a democrat. That's swampy AF.
Why is PDJT endorsing these shit-hooks?
I don't think we need any of these three peckerheads representing us here in GA.

I voted for Trump twice and will do so again, because he believes in what I believe in.  If a candidate supports Trump they most likely also believe in what I believe in.  It's 100% guaranteed that if they do not support Trump, they do not believe in what I believe in.

Kemp and Raffensperger in particular must go.  A traitor is worse than a declared opponent.

I am not one of the smart people but this has been rattling around in my head for awhile.
How did Abrams not beat Kemp in the last election? It would seem that she could benefit from the same minority/dem heavy urban areas that Biden did and win the state. Could Kemp have had a deal in place with Dominion?

IMO, the only reason she lost was the fact that the GA Dems didn't really put forth the same effort to mobilize young urban voters prior to that election that they did after her loss. They learned a lot from that loss, and it showed in the 2020 election results.

Excellent question.

One scenario (that makes sense)  would be that the 2018 Governor's race was a negotiated set up.  The vote cheating was already in place, but Kemp / Raffensperger were allowed to win in return for setting up the big prize: The 2020 Presidential and Senate races.  The 2018 vote total was rigged to be super close, and Abrams protesting that she actually won was a gaslighting operation to make people believe GA was on the verge of going blue. However, IMO, you have to put aside reality to believe that Joe Biden got more legal votes in GA than the liberal rock stars Hillary and Obama.  That is especially questionable when the vote was going strongly in Trump's favor until the vote counting was suddenly shut down (remember the fake water main break?)  in key districts, observers were sent home and then 10s of thousands of Biden votes suddenly appeared with zero oversight.

Kemp starts to get cold feet when the 2020 election is blatantly stolen and suddenly a young campaign worker who is dating his daughter dies in a one car explosion that sends the motor 100yds from the crash scene. (nothing to see, move along) After that, both he and Raffensperger used the courts and their own lack of action to shut down any attempt to investigate the vote cheating.

I don't think he will ever be a leader in the MAGA movement, but he can be a good manager and not screw things up.  Not all players are superstars.  Kemp is compromised and Perdue may be there to give him a soft landing and not take the entire R establishment in GA down with Kemp.

Personally I would like to clean house, but as a realist, reconstruction is probably a smarter play.

New Poll: Brian Kemp, Herschel Walker leading GOP Primary Races

New polls released Wednesday show Brian Kemp and Herschel Walker leading their races to win the GOP nominations for Georgia Governor and U.S. Senator.

The statewide poll of more than 1,000 likely GOP voters was conducted by the Atlanta-based Trafalgar Group between Friday, February 11 and Sunday, February 13.
Gov. Brian Kemp and former US Senator David Perdue are vying for the Republican nomination for Georgia governor in 2022.

"It clearly is a close race," said Robert Cahaly, Chief Pollster and Founder of The Trafalgar Group.

Asked who they would most likely vote for in the governor’s race, Gov. Kemp pulled 49.1% of the people surveyed, followed by former U.S. Senator David Perdue with 39.5%.

"What stood out was there is still a significant amount of people who are not aware that Trump's made an endorsement in the governor's race and that has a tremendous impact. We find among people who do know Trump made an endorsement that Perdue had a lead, but on the whole, Kemp still has about a 10 point lead," Cahaly said.

Herschel Walker: ‘I don’t support either’ Brian Kemp or David Perdue

I don't support either one of them. I'm mad at both of them. I speak the truth and let me tell you why. I've known Gov. Kemp since I was 16 years old. I've known Sen. Perdue since I was 19. This is what I want to say to everyone here: I want to bring this party together. We've got to bring this party together.

What has happened now is some people get sour grapes and they don't get out and vote. And I want to say whoever loses that race – whether it's Gov. Kemp or Sen. Perdue – he needs to tell his people to go out and vote for the other. It's time for you to stop having sour grapes and think about this party.

Georgia Republican gubernatorial hopeful David Perdue released a new television ad Wednesday that immediately drew harsh criticism from fellow candidate and current Gov. Brian Kemp.

The ad features video of Perdue shaking hands with former Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Grady Sanford, who was arrested on child porn charges more than a year ago.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, agents launched an investigation into Sanford's internet activity after the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) reported on November 6, 2020, that images of child sexual abuse had been uploaded the internet.

InsiderAdvantage Poll: Kemp leads Perdue in GOP governor’s race, Walker surges in U.S. senate race

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp enjoys a nine-point lead against former Sen. David Perdue in the race for the GOP nomination for governor in the latest FOX 5 Atlanta/InsiderAdvantage survey.

In the statewide poll of 750 likely Republican primary voters, Kemp polled at 44% with Perdue at 35%.

The poll showed educator Kandiss Taylor at 3%, other candidates at 2% and 15% of the people surveyed undecided.

InsiderAdvantage Chairman Matt Towery called Perdue’s campaign to unseat the incumbent Governor "anemic" so far with a small amount of paid advertising.

Meanwhile, Herschel Walker has a commanding lead in the polls in the race for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.

In the latest FOX 5 Atlanta/InsiderAdvantage survey, 62% of the likely Republicans polled said they would vote for Walker.

I know this opinion will be unpopular but at this point Perdue just needs to go away. He's just as much of the problem as any other candidate, he's not some savior of the constitution, he's part of the DC swamp. I'm afraid the MAGA crowd will end up costing us the governorship just like we lost the two senate seats all because they think Kemp was in on the election steal. Could he have been more vocal about cheating sure, could he have actually changed anything, unlikely. I'll put my support with Kemp to keep Abrams out of the Governor's Mansion but at this point I don't have much hope.

The only way Kemp wins the primary is if he cheats the vote again.  No matter what the Atlanta media is throwing out there via fake polls, Perdue will win on the strength of Trump's endorsement.

If Kemp is declared the winner of the primary, Trump won't need to say anything.  Myself and a large number of MAGA voters will never cast a vote for Kemp.  He cost our country a Presidency and the Senate majority and put us in the predicament we are in now.

I would rather Stacey win and we can crush her at every turn with a majority of both houses, the Lt Governor and Sec of State.  We are better off in that scenario than with Kemp selling us out for 4 more years.

I can't find any proof of this so I'm not sure. I heard on the radio this morning that PDJT's people have signed a contract for an event venue here in Columbia county for 3/26. Apparently Kemp has some kind of breakfast meet and greet scheduled for the same day here. Traffic will be retarted-er than normal if this is true.
Edit: Fake news. I heard the same guy ( Austin Rhoads) say today that PDJT's camp has moved this event closer to Atlanta. My apologies, ya'll.

This might be one of the biggest loads of shit that I have ever read on ARFCOM. If you would rather that Stacey win, you need to turn in your guns and check yourself into a mental hospital. Seriously, step away from the Trump BS and think about what you are really saying. I voted for Trump twice and I will still tell you that he is a narcissist and really only cares about his own ego. A traitor is worse than an known enemy.
Stacey can be totally shut down as governor by the republican House and Senate.
Kemp on the other hand has already stolen 2 senate seats and a Presidential election for the dems and there is no way he will ever get re-elected.
If he wins the primary, Stacey is the next governor.
If you want to keep Stacey out of Governor's seat, you better throw your weight behind Perdue in the primary.

Perdue for Gov, Herschel for Senate.

ETA.  If they cheat the vote again it won't matter who you vote for.

Also ETA. Kemp was instrumental in the defeat of pro gun legislation SB 259 via his non participation.... just like any meaningful investigation of the vote cheating .... as usual.  If you vote for a traitor, don't be surprised when he wins for the other side.

On a slightly different note, I saw this today.  Former house speaker, Newt Gingrich was changing his support from Mike Collins to Vernon Jones.

I'm neither politically savvy nor do I have any inside information, so this is just conjecture.  But my first impression upon seeing the title to the article, was this was Vernon Jones' consolation prize for pulling out of the gubernatorial race.  The obvious beneficiary would be the other challenger David Perdue.  The article seems to confirm I am not alone in my suspicion.

Politics is funny, isn't it?

Note:  This comment is not an endorsement of any candidate or political party.  It is also not a ratification or comment on the credibility of the source article.  It is probably best described as a random thought transferred to this thread for the purpose of sparking insightful political discussion and relieving the coiled stress of the author.

Considering how nice the GOP here in Ga plays with the Democrats, I wouldn’t get my hopes up………

I feel that it's relevant to post here, that there is now confirmation that Brian Kemp has killed both SB 259 (the enhanced preemption/shooting range protection/church carry bill) and SB 89 (an election integrity bill, that would have tightened control on ballots, dropboxes, etc. ).

Kemp instructed outgoing Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan kill both bills, as they were on the cusp of passing.

Of course he did.  Gonna be an interesting election season and probably several painful years, no matter who wins.  Our choices are pure shit.

No doubt. The Republicant party is truly hosed when the best they could come up with are Brian Kemp and David Purdue. They truly have no idea what Republican voters want, nor do do they care.

By looking at the majority of elected politicians here it looks like they want RINOs.
