I almost stepped on this little guy on the Raven Cliff Falls trail today. It looked like he had a mouthful of salamander.
I don't think I screamed like a little girl, but my son was laughing at the colorful language I used.

Won't harm anything larger than a cricket.

Thanks TD. It was the biggest garter snake I've ever seen. Guess they get to live a little longer outside of suburbia where they have to watch out for lawn mowers, weed whackers, cars, cats, etc. It was cool watching him eat his meal.
