It seems that he ran into the back of an SUV and passed away.
He was one hell of a gunsmith and had some of the best skills. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/lake/orl-bk-bikefest-fatalities-04262009,0,3266578.story |

I'm sorry to hear it.
My thoughts go out to his family. If any of our FL members know the family, please pass along our condolences. |
A fine man with a great rep in the industry. My sympathies to his family and friends.

I just got a email from his wife about this. Man, what a shame, what a great guy Kurt was. I just got a barrel back on Monday that he worked on for me. The industry has just lost a very talented man. Here is a link to the news story....Kurt Wala |

Aw man, that really sucks. I've driven up to his shop to have some work done, and he's a really friendly guy.

Always remember to live as if it is your last day, make it count. My condolesences to his wife and family. I am sure he lived his life at his fullest.

RIP Kurt, Damn.
He did some great work and a helluva nice guy. The swamp in Bushnell will never be the same. |
I'm very sorry to hear this. Kurt did some real nice work for me last year. He was working on a '65 pan so we hit it off pretty well as far as you can via e-mail. My condolences to his family.
Dang. Kurt did some fine work one some of my AR's years ago. He was VERY good at what he did.
A kink to this was posted over on the retro fourm - I didn't know him personally, but everything I ever heard about him was good. From what I understand, he did stellar work. My condolences to his family and friends.
He was a decent guy, I got some 9mm stuff from him a couple of years ago.
I was looking forward to some of his work. My condolences.
ETA: Kurt's own advice, straight from his site, remember it well: Support the 2nd Amendment, and, above all, "Be careful out there". |

I will be going to Kurt's house tomorrow to see about getting some of my stuff back. I still have my claim tag, can't believe I did noit toss it. I hope there are no problems as although Kurt seemed to be a hell of a guy, he was SWAMPED with work and the shop is loaded with parts and projects.
Hope I don't run into trouble or issues... |
Kurt will be greatly missed by everyone he has touched throughout his life. He did some barrel work for me about a year ago. He knew more about the modifications I wanted than I did. He had the answers to questions I hadn't even thought of. I'm a biker myself and I know he died doing something he loved.
Rest in peace brother. Doc |
RIP Kurt
He did great work for great prices. He also took the time to look at custom projects that others would have turned down. We lost a good one here |

Just my opinion, but it might be more tasteful to wait a week or two... just out of simple respect for the guy and his family. I guarantee you, they are probably a little busy with arrangements and dealing with grief right now. Probably not too concerned about the business right this moment. Just sayin. |

God be with his family. I just got my barrel back from him a month or two ago. Excellent work. All of our loss.

I agree, let the family deal with their loss, then see about finishing your business with them. |

I have stopped in there many times so it's not like I'm a simple customer or stranger. I'll just go by and express my condolences. IF the issue comes up, maybe I can help his wife/family get things settled WHEN THEY ARE READY to do so. |

RIP Kurt, my condolences to his family. He was a one man shop that is no more.

I have some things at his shop right now too. I've met Kurt, but never his family. Can anyone advise me on what I should do? I don't want to intrude, certainly, and I have no problem waiting a week or so before driving through Bushnell. I'd also like to offer my condolences personally. He was a patriot, a hard-worker, and a genius. He'll certainly be missed by many |

Shame about Kurt.
No sympathy for the biker gang member though. |

Biker gang member? He's is probably talking about the other guy in the newspaper article who was also killed on a motorcycle. |
I've got two FH's with the 'KKF' stamp on them. All top notch.
Kurt did some excellent work for me in the past.
He was 'one of the good guys', and he will be missed............ |
The man did what Bushmaster couldnt. Was an artist/ visionary IMO. BMs are the best Bullpups. Kurt made them that way.
RIP bud. |
My condolences to friends and family.
He was an unusually talented man, to say the least. |
