today I took my xd to the range for the first time and have pulled it apart and inspected it........
I noticed on the recoil spring on the end where it transfers wieght from the slide to the polmer frame is marred up really bad and infact looks slightly chiped i used no special round it was just a normal remington 9*19 its not the hole in the center its the half moon toward the upper right tell me what yall think

That end of the recoil spring assembly is threaded on to the center rod, welded and then ground flat. They sometimes grind away most of the weld and you see the original bore/thread. Usually it is just fine, but rarely the head come unthreaded and jams the pistol. I think that can be prevented by using a wicking Loctite product or peening the center out to deform the metal or else replace with an aftermarket spring and rod setup. It may never happen at all, but it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on it to see if you see a full circle around the center rod (meaning it is free to unthread).
