Before the revolvers came out that had the cut off hammers did anybody just file off theirs?? It seems if one had an old revolver that one didn't really mind modding they could do this. Any thoughts?

Yes, it was very common. You can chop a hammer and smooth it down nicely in a few minutes with a Dremel.

I have a Taurus 605 .357 and thought about using it for a concealed carry. It's pretty small I just don't like that big exposed hammer, I didn't pay but like 250 for it about 10 yrs ago.

I have used a Dremel on mine before, even bobbed the hammer on a S&W 3906 once. hpg
