i need help removing the magazine catch on my G27

i bought an extended catch and i cant figure out how to remove the old one. i figure you have to somehow get the spring/rod thing out of its groove on the catch but i cant do it, is there some trick to it?

Going in the mag well from the top with a thin bladed screw driver seems to help make this easier.  that way you can guide and lift the spring out of the groove.
