SO after playing with a S&W 1911PD, I have made up my mind that ALL Glocks will be 86'ed!

Current collection is on the EE (3 Glocks)

I am after a 1911PD , is this a good choice, 'cause i think so

I will have some cash left over, and what 9mm should I get ?

Comments on anything is appreciated and a "'Bout time dumbass!" should be a response too

Keep at least on glock around. If you absolutly must lone a gun to a friend the glock would be a gun you may not mind seeing go.

Id say go for a nice browning hi power, and become a full JMB praiser. You wont find a nicer feeling double stack 9mm around, and hell they are pretty to boot! a hi-power practical is next on my list...muahahaha.

yup, G17 is on the chopping block too, and I like HPs as well!

Get a RRA, Kimber IE, Wilson, Colt or SA 1911.  I have never played with a S&W 1911 so  I can not place them in the big picture. As for the 9mm, The HK USP 9mm is a great choice because it has the same controls as a 1911.  You can carry and practice with it like the 1911.

Be carefull.  I was a die hard Glock guy.  Hated 1911's thought they were 90 year old POS that only gun writers shot and liked.................and then I shot one.

Just stick to your Glocks, it will be much cheaper for in the long run - once you get one 1911, its all over because you will want to by 15 more.

I'm a "Colts Only" man but I haven't heard much negative about the S&W 1911s so "Welcome to the Dark Side!"

Congrats on the new handgun "theme"

As for the 9mm,

If you are in love with the 1911 platform why not stick with it and get a Springfield Armory 9mm 1911A1.  Full Size with all the bells and whistles.

Springer 9mm

Or  I'd go with a Browning Hi Power

Welcome...now don't make your 1911 or 1911's safe queens. Carry them, shoot them.

None of mine are safe queens.

Don't you know you can't have adjustable sights on a carry gun?

The S&W 1911's are about as problem free as you're going to find from all accounts. As for 9mm a true John Moses Browning Groupie will only own P-35's

+1

IMHO the S&W 1911s are true "sleepers". As time goes by they will obtain the respect they  deserve.

Whats the matter? Get tired of guns that work?Really, choosing one platform to work on is wise. I could go all 1911's to but I got a couple of Glocks that work well for their purposes.

Riiiiight!

I ended up getting not one but 2, Springer GI's
one Baby Eagle .45 in Chrome.

It is nice to have a pistol set in yer hand so natural you dont have to THINK about where  the round is going. Even nicer to do it with one in left AND right hand and hit the COM 16 times

I did get a COLT bevertail grip saftey thingy installed, I'll get the other installed next week (just bought a house and remodeling it).

just an update

If it was me, I'd wait before you sell all your glocks.  They are both good weapons.  My story goes that I had a Taurus 92.  I liked it very much.  But I wanted a 1911 very bad because I have a collection on WWII type weapons.  (my grandpa died in france).  And I thought the 1911 would be the ultimate Self Defense weapon for my car.  Now don't get me wrong I like it.  But the more I thought about it the more I liked the Taurus.  It felt better.  So I got a Beretta M9.  I think it fits ME way better than the 1911.  I shoot it better and it costs half the price to shoot.  My dad has a hipower and I still like the beretta more.   Obviously, you can do what you like, and I'm pretty silly for admitting this in the 1911 forum, but that's my experience.  Again, I like the 1911 alot.  It's been reliable and fun to shoot.  But it doesn't feel as good to me and I don't shoot as well with it.  I could probably shoot better with different type of ammo because my 1911 seems to favor the 200 grainers and the WWB 230's were the cheapest to shoot. It's accurate enough but not nearly as my M9.  Sorry.

I never dive head first into anything!
I mainly bought Glocks due to the "rugedness". I do a LOT of pondering, shooting and I have even been known to offer rental on a shooters pistol of rifle at a range if I could try thier weapon. I have shot ALOT of pistols and found the 1911 platform most comfy to shoot. Its a heavy rascal, but I am in good shape

I have always wanted a pair of twins, that is why I got 2 GIs. I wanted to get a good 9mm too, but Glock and XD were NOT an option. SO I settled for a 3rd .45 the BEagle, which is an excellent pistol too.

I still do not know which nine I want so I will be trying out a few over the next few months.

LOL I have already statred on the "tweaking" of my GIs, new beaver tail.  next are new triggers.
