I'm picking up my new Ruger Bisley Blackhawk SA .45LC revolver (woo-hoo! unfluted cylinder, Bisley grip, 5.5" bbl, target sights, stainless) this Monday evening.

I have an old beater Blackhawk .357 early model and my dad's Bearcat .22LR SA revolvers that do not have the transfer-bar safety update - you only want 5 rounds in these 6 shooters. I'm gonna update these when I get the chance (no value change, apparently: old parts can be reinstalled).

Can I safely carry my new Ruger SA revolver (w/transfer bar safety) with 6 rounds loaded, like other modern revolvers?? Sounds like it.

Perfectly safe. The whole point with 5 rounds in a six-shooter was when the firing pin was attached to the hammer and basically rested on the primer of the round in the chamber. With the transfer bar, that doesn't happen
