i'm looking over a 1982ish  S&W .357  Ohio buckeyes state sheriff association  commemoritive pistol, blued,  4inch barrel, brand new in box.   i don't know the model number of the S&W niether does the guy selling it (altough he 'thinks' it's a 686).  what is the ball park price range for something like this?  he is 'thinking it over' as we speak.

thanks for all your help

If it is blued it is probably a 586.  I don't know if the sheriff's association would fetch anymore money but just for the gun anywhere between $325-$400 depending on the condition is what I would be willing to pay.  Very nice gun if it is the 586.
