prrbably cheaper to buy a new .357...........even considering if the old gun is strong enough..........I wouldn't do it

Not a good idea . Ive never heard it recomended and wouldnt do it . Cheaper to but a new gun . Im not a big Ruger guy but Im not sure they sold many of the .38 SP it might have a preimium ??? However if you decide to do it that Ruger is probably your best bet . Dont Do It .

Very BAD indeed.  Dude, just go by a .357 gun and get it over with.

Suffice to say NO reputable gunsmith would touch a job like this.

The big difference between .38 Special and .357 Magnum revolvers is the level of heat treating they get.

The .38 is heat treated to a lower level and CANNOT withstand the pressures.

With even very strong, well made revolvers like the Ruger, you'd be converting a revolver into.....a hand grenade which you'd be holding in your hand when it went off.

This is a good discussion.

Can somebody point me to a gunsmith that will convert my 22 lr bolt action to 22-250?

Thanks
