Since the OP does not put any budgetary constraints, I will get the best 1911 that I can afford.

Beretta APX Centurion works very well for me. Appears to be built for long term reliability, I shoot it well without too much effort, mags are cheap when on sale, I can switch the grip frame to a compact version easily, deep cleaning is simple, parts are available from the factory and I have two quality holsters, one with a WML, one without. For about $900 I have 1 firearm, 15 mags, two holsters, night sights, two additional grip frames. I am happy.

Quoted: Smith & Wesson.... specifically their DA/SA Automatics and Revolvers. https://i.imgur.com/a6qL7Um.jpg My Model 4566 and Model 65 DAO. If I was limited to a specific type and caliber. FN509 Tactical
I recently bought one and I’m in love. My Glocks and HK USP are jelly. |

Sig. The 320 is a good base to build off of and while the mags may be more expensive than glock, they're at least available. I haven't seen an HK mag in person in a long time. The Aftermarket for the 320 series will catch up to G pretty quick since it A) doesn't completely suck and B) got the .mil contract
They also have a pretty comprehensive lineup as long as you aren't going to hunt with a pistol. |
|
believe it or not, I have 2 Walther Creeds. They are awesome.
|
|
I’d probably go Beretta 92 Series variant just cause I have a slew of magazines and holsters
After that probably CZ P10C just cause it’ll work in my G19 holsters |
|
I was into 1911s and revolvers before I was into Glocks.
If I could only have one gun= 1911. |
|
|
The same LW Commander I've been carrying for a couple decades.

One handgun...forever?
I'd have to choose a 4" .357 medium frame. GP-100 or L frame. Pick one. |
|
If I could only have one it wouldn’t matter if Glock was included. I’d take my USP.
I have 4 G19s so definitely not a Glock hater, but the USP in any caliber is built for the apocalypse and then some. |

View Quote I'm with Blitz on this subject every time. A wonderfully accurate and dependable pistol indeed. |

I just moved over to a Glock a couple of years ago, and had carried a 1911 for decades prior to that, so my overall choice is easy. As for the make, I like what Dan Wesson is currently offering.

Couldn't agree with Pfran 42 more....Canik is blowing up the gun order....If you haven't checked out the Elite Combat versions of of the Canick Tp 9, you really need to...
I vote Walther,, Cz, and Canik. Not in any particular order.... |

I'd guess a Springfield TRP, or possibly a CZ with a single action trigger.

H&K USP .45
FN509 Tactical 9mm You didn't specify Caliber/MM so there. |

1911 5" or S&W 66 4"
If only one the Coonan Model B in .357 Mag CD |
|

I'm assuming you mean a brand new gun. I picked Smith and Wesson. But, if I could get an old gun, I would definitely pick a Sig from the late 80's from West Germany.
