I purchased a thigh holster a while back for my M9 Beretta, but I just bought a Sig P220 that seems to fit better than the M9 did when I slid it in the holster.  The holster is a nylon holster made by Specter.  I've heard using the wrong holster for your handgun can be a bad idea, but if it fits securely would you use it???

If the gun does fit, why not use it.

What he said.  Who cares what it's made fore.

If it is secure, I say no problem.  If I had to guess the only difference between the Specter holster for the M9 and the Sig would be the length of the barrel.  The shorter Sig would fit in the holster for the Beretta and have some room to spare as far as the barrel is concerned but the Beretta would probably stick out  the bottom of the holster for the Sig.

I have several holsters that fit several pistols and have no problem. All I care about is if the pistol fits properly.

I use a 1911 holster for a BHP. Some what loose, but secure enough the weapon isn't going anywhere.

I have a Galco Yaqui slide built for a M9 that I use for my CZ compact.

I have a Sparks Executive Companion that was built for a HK Compact 40 that I have carried my G19 in for years. When I got my SW M+P40, I stuck it in the same holster while I waited the 5 months for Sparks to build me one for the M+P. It fit well enough to use at the Texas State IDPA match.

My BHP fits in my 1911 holster with no problem.

As long as the gun fits and does not stretch the holster so the original gun does not fit, go for it.

Someone gave me three used Askins Avenger holsters for the BHP. I only have one BHP so the other two are used for 1911s and they fit perfectly.

Have a Bianchi M12 for the 1911, the pistol swims in it. My Glock 21 is a perfect fit.

The Bianchi M-84 holster has a list of pistols that will fit it: 92FS, Sig P226, 1911, BHP, and the list goes on.  So by that standard it should be ok.  Of course any kydex, Serpa, friction fit holsters will not obviously.
