What is the purpose of HK seemingly letting just a trickle of extra mags be produced and sold to the public?

HK has a lot of government contracts that probably impact that a lot.  I don't think US civilian sales are their bread and butter.

Thanks for the info, TheJeanyus.

Although I'm sure HK has many government contracts to fulfill, quite a lot of $$$ comes from the civy market.  The civy market is what keeps the companies going between contracts.  HK mags have been sparse and expensive since I can remember.

I've never had a problem finding HK mags...

Never paid for 35 dollars for ANY of them either, including the MK23 12 rounders.

I just bought  factory HK12 round 45 mags for $30 ea including shipping.

Correction, the seller lied as the mags I received are not HK Factory mags.  I'm trying to get my $$$ back.

I wish I could say that.

I paid about $100.00 each for 2 USP mags I bought in '99.

Don't feel bad.  I've got about 60 M16 mags that I paid around $25 per for.  Happy to lose money as long as the ban is gone!

price of mags are one of the reasons i dont own a HK

One reason their expensive is because HK knows no after market company can make a reliable mag for an HK for some reason.  Thus the market will support their prices on mags.  Besides mags are an investment.  When you need more rounds its usually RFN.

Why is it so hard to dulicate a metal box with a spring???  I should open a mag factory and hire people to design my mags and TEST them before producing them.  This goes for every gun out there, how hard is it to make a mag that reliable feeds every time.  This is the day and age of CAD and everything else.  Buy a PC and buy some software.  Geesh.

Ditto.   Got rid of my P7 for that reason.  And lack of leather.

HK mags (and any other add on) have almost always been scarce and expensive.

Sorry, but why is everyone complaining about the high cost?  You are buying an HK - arguably one of the best handgun manufacturers in the world.  If you don't want the quality that comes with it, then buy another gun.

Its like buying a new Hummer H1 and then complaining about the gas mileage.
