Why does SiG think everyone out there wants a SiG with RAIL!? Why can't they produce a SiG P220, P226, and P229 w/out the Rail!?

Because they think everyone wants to be "tactical"!

I thought they did make pistols without rails also. My 220 ST has one but I wanted one for a light. I do not want a rail on every pistol I have but for home defense I like a wepon mounted light. It would be sad if they have stopped making non-railed pistols.

They could be trying to keep up with G**ck who has been putting rails on the guns for years. Plus there is a huge demand for a "tactical" gun. Sig still makes a few models with out the rail. The 239, 232, and the SAS models.

The guys at SIG obviously have GLOCK envy.

I got a 229 recently without the rail. The dealer had to order direct from sig and  I got one of the few that were left.  I prefer the look of no rail, that and the fact that I had a VersaMax II holster for a non-rail gun

I'm glad I found my P226 Navy when I did. I had heard that the new Navy pistols were coming with rails, and I wanted no part of that.

Sig just recently changed to all rail versions except for the 239 and smaller and the 229SAS I believe.

Because there is more benefit than loss.  A rail adds a selling feature to a pistol and they can reduce thier tooling.

A gun without a rail shoots the same but no light can be mounted.
A gun with a rail has the option.

If you're not going to use the rail, then it's worthless and will serve no purpose other than to tear up your expensive leather holster.

It's "SIG", not "SiG". SIG is an acronym for Schweizer Industrie Gesellschaft.

You gotta admit though....

"SiG" looks kinda spiffy....at least to me.
