I thought the FN five seven was not for public consumption!

Am I mistaken?

This was a topic a while ago about the pistol.
From what I remember someone saying, the pistol itself is legal to own.  The post-ban high capacity magazines and its ammunition (due to its armor piercing capability) are illegal to own.

Could be wrong so don't take my word for it.

Hmm $1400.00 for a gun that sells for around $700.00 to LE what a good deal .....

You are mistaken. FN's policy has been to not sell the Five-seveN to the public, but the pistol has been perfectly legal to own. Good luck finding any civilian magazines and civilian legal ammunition isn't exactly something on the shelf at Wal-Fart.

Supposedly due to lackluster LE and military sales, FN is going to start marketing these to the masses. I think I'd rather have something like a Taurus Raging Hornet.

Just buy a CZ52 with some hot handloads and you will save about $1300 and have a gun with character that can do anything the FN can.

FN is, according to somebody and some magazine who's name escapes me, making 10 round mags.

Also somebody, who's name escapes me is selling the 5.7mm HP ammo. IIRC it isn't cheap, but it also isn't AP, so you can own it.

CMMG stocks the ammo. I'm not sure what kind though....

Isn't the 5-7 in the same range of capability as the .22 LR?

And no one has been able to lay their hands on them yet.

Heck, I'll get one if they market the Single Action "tactical" version.  I handled one at SHOT and the trigger is far better than Glock, or even the XD.  Believe it or not, the ergomics fit my hand really well too.  I thought that mag which had to contain a 27mm long case plus a long pointy bullet would make for terrible, Desert-Eagly feel, but it was actually very... dare I say it? 1911ish.  It'll gain alot of luster if the ban goes away, too, though I don't think I could ever trust a .22 calibre pistol for defense.
