No one is making these and I don't want to spend $1300 on a LAM (since I can buy many other guns for the cost of a simple light/laser). So, I thought I would design one and have a machine shop that does military contract work make me some. I am thinking Aluminum and Lauer Custom Coatings of Tan or Black.

What say you?

Please check my new topic for mount choices

I want one for the same reason as you. I've seen a conversion model for the Tactical so I'm sure it's not something hard to do for the Mark 23. How would the mount be like? Would it screw to the trigger guard or just the rail?

Please vote. I am need the marketing info to determine order quanitity. If you are SOCOM owner and are not interested, please say why.

Screwing into the trigger guard is the easiest and most reliable design.

Great then, when I see pics and a price I'll definitely want to order a set.

I am working on the design and price quote now. I am probably a couple of months away from a prototype test. I put the poll up to get an idea of how many units I can get made for what price. So if you and I are the only takers, it may not happen.

In that case, put the poll on HKPRO.com and Mark23.com where you'll get a much bigger response.

Crap. Looks like someone is already working on it. However, it doesn't look like it fits the gun well. I may try to design one after all. Stay tuned.

Wait until June when the SureFire mount hits. Price is the only question right now. The prototype appeared to be ultra slim like the GG&G mount and it looks very promising.

There was a picture of it on HKpro and it looks good.

I called Surefire and they said that there are no plans to make a mount. So I am proceeding with the project. I am not happy with what I have seen so far.

Good!

Keep us informed on your progress, I like many other Mark 23 owners would like to see a standard picatinny rail on our guns. I don't want to spend 1300$ on a LAM either.

Okay, this is getting about as funny as whether the Mark23 was discontinued.

The Surefire mount which is designated as model #MR12 will be released on 9/1/06. This is based on information I received from Surefire today. It took a lot of proding but pricing will be around $80. Paul at insight is trying very hard to get this product to market before 9/1 and I was advised to continue checking in at their website as it will be released there first.

I still think JoseyWales is going to produce a equally good product based on some of the files he has sent me. I hope he beats SF to market.

Guess I'll wait for both (or others) to come out as I'll take the better design. :)

I emailed them and they said it will be ready by summer. and the picture on HKPro looks sweet. I think it would be difficult to compete with Surefire.

Linky to pics, por favor.

(I voted yes BTW)

Currenlty I have a rough drawing that I am finishing up the measurements on. We are building the CAD file and then I have to run it through stress simulations.

Funny. I came here to ask about this very problem (lack of an adapter)

Here are some pics of the one I have currently for sale in the EE

Link to EE

I originally got this from SK Industries at LAW-17.com many years ago. I remember it was very difficult to get him to actually sell me one back then. I have since gotten rid of the MK23 and so I have no use for the mount.

JoseyWales if you need any dimensions from my mount to help you out with your project let me know.

Josey, where did you locate the thumb screw?
Is it set up in such a way that its operation will not scratch the trigger guard?
For the Insight LAM 400-450 and Wilcox, the thumb screw is embedded in the mount and not touching the trigger guard. dtarbox's pics show the mount is like that too.
