Doing alot of work for my brother at his house. While I said don't worry about it, I'm saving him so much money that he insists on buying me a new piece. I've always liked his Kimber TLE/RL but have also seen the Marine Operator from Springfield and like that too.

Anyway, which would you choose and why?
Any problems that I should be aware of? I've heard concerns about the Kimber's exractor.

Opinions are welcome for other pistols, but I definately need something that is full sized with a rail.

And yes, I have a great brother!

My vote goes for the Operator simply because I don't prefer the external extractor.

However, they are both great choices and I'm sure you'll be satisfied with either one.

Forgot about the Kimber Warrior. Does it have any advantages over the TLE?

The warrior has a better finish and doesn't have the Series II safety. It also has the internal extractor. Of the 3 I'd go Warrior, TLE/RL, Operator.

Let your brother buy you the warrior and you buy the operator

Then send the operator to me!!

Is the MC Operator the "Marine" Operator of which you speak?

The model isPX9105ML. I've seen it listed on Gunbroker as the Marine Corps Operator.

Another vote for the Springfield MC Operator. You will have to get a special holster for it, though.

Do the Springfields have the Series II safety?

The springfield. I've seen too many Kimbers break.

No, they have ILS, which is easier to disable anyway.

I have personally seen two safety break and 1 plunger tube dislodge itself and drop to the ground. The last one was almost new and had been worked over by kimber's in-house custom shack. I carried a TLE for awhile but I've gotten so much second hand complaints on top of what I have personally seen I won't carry one as a fighting pistol now. YMMV

" he insists on buying me a new piece."
How about a Eb Brown

It would appear that my mileage does vary.

Good. Hope it stays that way, especially if you ever need it. My confidence in their line remains below an acceptable level for a fighting sidearm though.

Thanks, can it only be disabled or can it be completely removed?

ETA: 80sgyrene, Sorry I just realized I am kinda high jacking your thread.

Removed is the best option. A new mainspring housing and some small parts, and you're good to go. Otherwise just unlock it and leave it like that.

Thanks again Combat-Jack.

80sgyrene, in choosing between the Operator and the Warrior, since they seem to be very similar in both price and features, the Kimber boast a Match Grade barrel. I don't know if the same is true of the Springfield.

Thanks everyone, still haven't made up my mind yet.
