Until now the answer was Kings #204 which drops right in to current Springfield milspecs.  however Brownells doesnt carry them anymore.

Anyone knw another drop in for the Springers?  Wilson combat advertises a drop in for the Colts but doesnt claim it will work in the Springers.

Brownells part numbers would be great for any drop in grip safety you have sucessfully used on a springfield Milspec.

Drop in grip safeties fit very poorly (particularly in SA mil specs), I presume you are aware of this.

The King #204 fits good enough. That's whats in this one.

But anyway. It's not for looks.  Its only to save my beefy paws from getting the shit cut out of them which is what happens if i shoot a 1911 without a "beavertail" grip safety (Or a PPK or Sig P230 for that matter).

I'd buy another King's #204 if i could find one.  But Brownells dropped them and Midway doesnt carry them either.

So has anyone tried the Ed Brown, Wilson, or Smith & alexander "drop in" grip safeties that are adverised for colt's in a Spinger milspec?

Spending $39.00 for UPS or FED Ex overnight, each way, to have a $30.00 part fitted is not an option.

Have you tried contacting King's directly?

Not yet.  Trying to avoid paying full retail plus Cali sales tax.

Got a Smith & Alexander "EZ-Fit Hi Grip" Safety from Brownells. Definately would require extensive frame modification, on top of being a very low quality part. Lots of sharp edges and burrs.  Its going back and I'm going to try the Wilson Combat instead.

Its to stop the web of his hand getting chewed up every time he shoots, the same reason everyone else and their dog changes to a "beavertail".

Are you shooting a GI SA or a Milspec SA?

I've noticed the true Milspec SA's to have a longer non-beavertail grip safety.

actualy , mine is not a mil-spec, but a GI .45 .
i thought they were the same, but just peaked at SAs website, and they are different.

Well i tried the Wilson cobat.  It dropped right in but the fit was pretty bad with a huge gap so it didnt really save my hand.

So i bit the bullet and fitted the smith & alexander.
