Ok, thinking of trying out and M&P finally, I will probably immediately swap for APEX kit. The question is which one? I plan on using it for range use, but also carry. Looking at the carry kit, but I really like a lighter trigger, even in a striker fired gun with no safety. Not sure if the competition kit is too light? Also there is the FFS kit I believe? Any other options? Also, as an update, I held an HK VP 9 today, that was undoubtedly the best striker fired trigger I've felt. Anyone tried both? Just curious how they might compare?

I really prefer the dcaek. It's 4.5 lbs if I'm not mistaken which is the same as my 1911. My buddy has the competition one. I think it's too light but I'm admittedly partial to 4.5 lbs. dcaek has a solid take up and clean break. The comp one has no take up and breaks when you touch it basically. This is the full kit with trigger. Up to you of course.

The DCAEK is no lighter than recent factory triggers.  I bought several of them when I had a bunch of M&Ps to do and they actually made the triggers heavier.

Competition spring kit is all I buy anymore.  $22 and a DIY factory sear reprofile is all I have on my personal M&Ps.

I used the DCAEK. This one

All my M&Ps went from 6.xx to 7.xx down to 3.5ish.

I used the stock trigger return spring.

I have yet to get ahead of the slide.

Updated, curious how it might compare to the trigger on a VP9

I got the Forward Set Sear kit with curved aluminum trigger for my S&W M&P9. I used the heavier spring for a 5 pound trigger pull. It has no take up or over travel. It's the best striker fired trigger I've tried to date, but of course it is an aftermarket trigger. It's about as good as my 1911 trigger, and that's saying something. I was not impressed by the HK VP9 trigger, the HK rep couldn't stop talking about the trigger, but I was kind of like meh. The Walther PPQ has the best factory stock striker fired trigger.

How good is the M&P w/ apex stuff compared to the stock PPQ?

Lighter, or it can be, but the PPQ is smoother.

I just did a poly aek trigger with the Apex sear in my FS 9 and it's night and day difference. I haven't tried a vp9 or ppq but it's a way nicer trigger than the factory M&P. I had the poly trigger in by itself for a week or 2 before I put the sear in and even that was a huge difference. I've had the RAM in it for a few years but the combo of RAM, poly trigger, and sear is well worth it in my opinion. I'll be upgrading my compact next.
