Best deal and 228 do not belong in the same sentence.  If you're talking police trade ins they are few and far between and disappear quickly.  Otherwise look at EE, Gunbroker, local shops, etc and be prepared for sticker shock.

I bought a like new P228 about 5 years ago for $515 from a sleepy little LGS that is now open all of 3 1/2 days a week, maybe 2 1/2.  The owner likes to fish and made more money in the last 10 years than he ever dreamed of.  I made a hell of a find and love the gun.  I bought an M11-A1-TB for $899 and haven't taken it out of the box.

Sigs are funny.  I have a like new P225 and two like new P245's.  Those guns are very hard to find and "may" appreciate.  Maybe.....  The rest of the Sig's with the exception of the P210 are pretty available.

Its not who has the best deal. Its who has them in stock as used police trade in's or private sale in rough condition or very good to excellent.  The price determines the supply and demand which I have seen lately.  I bought a LEO trade in 228 marked made in Germany and there was no added serial number or PD markings.  I paid 479.00 a few months ago and later kept a look out for another one and they began to get harder to find and prices went up for much rougher ones then mine.  I found mine on Gunbroker so I bought a 228 and W Germany 226 in a one week period.

228 after I cleaned it up and added new grips

Same 228 after Cerakote job
