A used RRA or Les Baer.  $1300 will get you a new Les Baer, or a Yost 1* on a Springfield base gun...

I've settled on the STI Trojan as the one to buy when I get home (though I've been eyeing the S&W 1911, too).

A NIB Springfield TRP...

Until I got my TRP for $1k, less than the avg price, I had planned to buy the SW1911 DK - It had a magwell and many other nice features. Only neg I saw was the all black target sights. But, I had planned to get a front fiber optic sight

If it wasn't for the TRP purchase, I think either that SW DK model or the Springfield Marine Operator are the 2 best guns for that price.

I have a Kimber TLE RLII. Paid about $875 for it & I love it. Excellent slide to frame fit. Not loosy goosy but not to tight. Incredibly accurate & reliable. Light smooth trigger pull. Light rail & night sights. I use it for daily carry and IDPA competition.

Surprised not to see anyone suggest the Kimber Warrior.

Personally I don't think you gain much with a $1k 1911 over a $600 1911.  With that said I'd cruise around looking for a used Kimber Series I gun and spend the rest on holster, belt, mag pouch, training, etc.
