I have a chance to purchase from a private collector a 29-8 for $500, NIB and never fired. What can you experts tell me about the 29-8? I've been hankering for a 44 magnum.

29's are great guns.  Too may have loooooong barrels, but a 4 inch 29 is a perfect packing pistol in my opinion.

New 629 mountain guns retail anywhere from $575 to $625.  $500 for a minty 29 is a good price. Not as good as $400, but still fair.

I've had a 6.5" 629 Classic before, but now I have a 5" 629 Classic, which I feel is the ideal .44 Magnum pistol.

What barrel length does it have? .44 can be a hoot if you can handle the recoil. Personally, I have a 629-4 M/G, a 4" 29, and a 6&1/2"629-4 Classic. I love them all. Don't have any ;ics of the Classic.
