Can we come up with a list of all calibers available in CURRENT PRODUCTION 1911s?

Also, what about all the various double stack guns? I can think of:

-Para
-STI/SV or SPS
-Caspian
-Springfield Armory
-Kimber
-Rock Island
-Enterprise Arms
-Bar-Sto

but I know there are tons of other double stack manufacturers available.

Who else?

I have owned a couple of Paras...if I had it to do again I go with STI for sure. Metalurgy in the paras leave a lot to be desired.

Are you going to shoot competition?  If so for USPSA I's go STI and shoot limited.  If IDPA, I'd go with a good .45 single stack.

If no competition shooting, I'd also go SS .45.  Much easier to carry concealed and more shootable than a double stack.  Just mt 2 cents.

Off the top of my head, the calibers avaiable in a 1911 today include:

9x19mm
.40 S&W
.38 super
all the variations of .38 super (SV/ST))
.22
-and that weird .50 GI thing (anyone have one?).

Edit:  (forgot 10mm)

I've also seen chamberings in 9x23 and 9x21 (but I suppose those are variations on .38 Super)

There are also a couple of companies making them in 45ACP.  They are not too common though, you really have to look to find one.

Haha - forgot one.

Anyway - I thought of another: isn't there some outfit making a Commander in .45 GAP?

Also, I thought I saw pictures from SHOT of a 1911 in one of the new .17 Rimfire rounds; anyone know if it made it into production?

I have never heard about problems with Para's metalurgy, that's a new one on me.

I have had 4 Para's over the last 12 years. Never had a problem with them. I currently carry a Para P12.

As with my past Para's, this one is flawless.

I thought .45 and single stack was the only way to go.

Kimber makes a 1911 chambered for the .17.
