What are the most effective grains in the following Gold Dot bullets?

40 S&W
9mm
45 ACP
357 Mag
44 Mag

I have carry guns in all these calibers and I decided to go with Gold Dots as my carry ammo. I have heard the certain weight bullets are better then others for self defence. Thank you for any help!

The weight of a handgun bullet is trivial when talking about the same caliber. Unless you are talking about barell length. But just to play along I give you these: for standard barell length.

165- .40
124- 9mm
230- .45
125- .357
250- .44mag-----????? I dont know the GD loadings for .44mag

Thanks guys!
The guns these will be fired from are:

40- Sig 229 and Springfield XD

9mm- Kahr MK9 and XD compact

45- S&W 4506 and Sig 220

357 Mag- 2 and 4 inch S&W 686

44 Mag- 2 1/2 inch S&W 629

Does this help? Thank you!

The only one I would change is the .44mag I picked. I would go lighter out of the shorter barell. I cant help really though as i dont know much about the .44mag.
