I have done up my SA Mil-Spec and love the way it looks and even more so that its been 100% since day one. I really want to use it as a HD gun but want to be able to add my TLR-1 light on it. I know there are rails you can add on but not sure which one to get. Also, do I have to drill into the dust cover or is there other methods other types of add-on rails use? My main thing is if I add a rail and one day take it off I might not want 2 little holes in the dust cover, but if thats the only way then so be it.

So please post any links to add on dust rails you know about that are of good quality, and any comments if I should have a gunsmith put it on or could I do it myself. I've done most of the work on my Mil-Spec inside and out so I'm pretty well knowledgable about my 1911.

The Surefire MR07 tends to get good reviews, and doesn't require gunsmithing to install. (Though it isn't exactly 'quick on/quick off'.)

Looks pretty good. Just found this one by Command Arms: www.lapolicegear.com/caa19unbara.html

Looks to fit on the trigger guard and is made of aluminum. Plus its 1/3 the price of the Surfire and does not require me to replace my slide stop. Anyone know or use this one?

This seems to be the more elegant solution, but it's permanent if you weld it as recommended.
