So what does everyone think about the PPQ .40? I have seen lots of positive reviews about the 9mm. I can't find any negative reviews on either of these guns. Just wondering what the majority thinks about these before I buy one. I'm looking at the .40 because I have a bunch of ammo already and don't want to start investing in two calibers.

I'm a .40 shooter, and all Glocks. I had the opportunity to shoot a mag through a 9mm PPQ a couple weeks ago and I was thoroughly impressed. I've not heard anything one way or another about the .40 version, but unless there wind up being durability issues with them, I think it would be a great choice.

I've had a chance to put a few rds. downrange  and have been very impressed with the PPQ in 9mm.  A very fine pistol by any measure.

Can't speak to the .40 though.

Weird mag release
Defective trigger
Expensive mags
Questionable factory support
Less sight and holster options

Have they had problems with the triggers? I found the one that I shot had a very nice trigger. But I've not been keeping up with what results people are having out there.

Earlier ones did.

The trigger safety mechanism could fail if the trigger wasn't pull straight back or there was lateral pressure.

Got to handle one at a local gun shop. It is the next gun on my list, very nice. Ergos were good and the trigger was pretty good IMO. Would definitely pick it over a glock.

Could you show your info on said trigger issues......because 3 google search pages in and I have nothing...except the one were a flaw was induced threw slow manual slide manipulation while holding the trigger right befor rest.

Other than that I'd call everything on your list BS except the mag prices!!!!!!!   Don't even get me started on thier mag prices.

O...little info you probably already know but ignored, ALL HOLSTERS THAT WORK FOR THE P99 will work with the PPQ thier is just a subtle difference in the frames.   And ones that seem too tight just need a few min with a heat gun.

I'm sorry I wasn't watching my P's and Q's, and confused the PPQ and P99

P99 had trigger issues as described above. PPQ I have not seen any issues.

Thanks for the info everyone. That pretty much falls in line with everything I have seen about them as well. Mag prices are high and it looks like holster options are a lot better than when they first came out. I guess all that I need to do now is start looking for them and see if I can find one somewhere for sale. Thanks again!

I'm glad the list of issues is not for the PPQ as I've got one (9mm) for a while now without any issues.  It eats everything I've fed it.

The OEM mags are expensive, but you can buy Magnum Research mags made my Mecgar (same as OEM) for much much cheaper.  Part numbers are

  • 9mm - MAGFA915 - 15rd , MAGFA910 - 10rd

  • 40 cal - MAGFA4010 - 10rd , MAGFA4011 - 11rd

Holsters are a little hard to find.  But from what I've read, more and more holster mfg are ramping up productions for the PPQ due to its popularity.

I think this pistol is on it's way to becoming very popular.  The trigger is awesome and one of the best striker fired trigger's I've tried.  I have a PPS and love it.  PPQ is on the short list.  Buy it with confidence.
