I ordered one on June 9th directly from S&W.  Just called today to check the status of my order and its still on backorder with an unknown in-stock date.  Anyone recently get one of these from S&W and if so, how long did you have to wait?

would like to know the answer as well as I am thinking about ordering one soon.

I could be wrong but I think you can order them directly from Storm Lake for most M&P's

Reason for going Smith &Wesson is because the barrel is only $90 compared to the $200+ Storm Lake.

Guess you'll have to wait a really, really, really, really, really long time then.

But since I don't have the can or the gun yet who cares

When It comes to NFA you have plenty of time to figure out a host

well just called and placed an order. 22 orders ahead of mine. damnit.

Apparently they aren't even producing these anymore so I'm wondering if they have to hit a certain number to produce these.

Read on a few boards that some got one right away

i get the feeling that they must wait until they get a certain number of orders before they manufacture them since they don't keep this item in stock

Thats what I'm thinking as well.  Thats why I went ahead and put my order in, so the number keeps growing. I hate back ordered products.

Just ordered three things that are backordered...

raven holster
bc comp matte stainless 1.0
and now the barrel

OH COME ON!!!!  now we have to wait longer to hit that magic number!!!  I say keep your order in and sell one of them when your new one comes in.  It definitely wouldnt be hard to find a buyer.

I also placed an order about the same time you did.  Still nothing but the card saying it was on back order.

What phone number (eta: at S&W) have y'all been using to call in the order? I tried and got put on terminal hold. I gave up since I wasn't sure I was even waiting for the the right guy...

i sure hope that guy was talking out of his ass.  does anyone around here know someone that works for S&W that could confirm or deny that 100 is the magic number????

A bit pricier than the S&W barrel but good value for money

...if it were DiamondBlack coated maybe. But that shiny protuberance out the front end of an M&P just looks wrong ... but that's just me.

i agree, but still a great find if you don't mind a shiny barrel.  fwiw, my classIII dealer says that S&W used to require about 30 orders before they'd make a production run.  if that's still the case we're gettin' close!

It does look odd, but you get used to it. Although i wouldnt mind trading someone for a smith and wesson threaded barrel for it though.

might as well put an order in so i can have a spare for my M&P that actually came with one....... i bet if i raised hell and needed a replacement for mine S&W would miraculously find one

Just got off the phone with S&W. Threaded M&P 9 barrels were in stock and cost me $90 shipped.

I called too.  They have 5 left.  He told me they don't make them for the M&P Pro, which is what I need.  And for what it's worth, the guy was not helpful at all.  Not outwardly rude, but kind of a snobbish prick at the same time.

FWIW I ordered my threaded barrel 21 JULY. S&W charged my account 16 AUGUST so it should be on the way.

To put it in perspective - I ordered a RC Phantom for the M&P on 15 JUNE and still no word on it and the holster is way more important to me than a spare barrel at this point. It's all relative I guess...

My account was charged on the 17th I believe.  I called for shipping info shipped on the 18th expected delivery the 26th!!!

They ship USPS/FEDEX.  some dual handoff system.  This is a long time from MA to NC

I ordered a thread protector from Tornado Tech. on Wed it arrived Friday OR to NC USPS Priority.

Is there any reason they wouldn't let you order two of the spec ops barrels at once?

Also, what are you asking for, the specific part number or just the 9mm threaded spec ops barrel?

I just asked for a threaded M&P 9 full size barrel, and the guy knew exactly what I was talking about.

I ordered my threaded barrel today, 87$ shipped to my door.

at first i was told they were out of stock and then i called back a few hours later and a guy took my order and said they were in stock

mine finally arrived yesterday!!!

a side note to anyone who tries to order one after they are out of stock:  the last time that i called to check the status of the backorder, the customer service guy was very rude, not like all of the other ones that i have talked to in the past at S&W.  he actually told me that he would never have ALLOWED me to order the barrel because of the fact that they were out of stock and had been on backorder for several weeks.  if you get this guy, hang up and try again.

Well, I have been waiting (im)patiently on my barrels since 8/23.  Just found out today from S&W that they were delivered on 8/27, except that I have not seen them!! Fedex left them at my door, at an apartment, in a very high traffic area with lots of people walking by and no discreet place to hide a package.   Someone made off with it.

I have started the claim process with fedex so we will see how that goes.  I am pissed at fedex for leaving it at my door.  Every other time I have had a package delivered to my apt and I have been unavailable, they have left a note saying they will try again or they will hold it for me to pick up.

I just wanted to update what happened to my barrels.  They will be delivered today and they are going to be delivered to where I work that way someone will definitely be there to receive them.  Should be any minute now.

I ended up talking to someone at S&W that was very helpful and he said they would send me replacements at no cost.  Incredible customer service from S&W, I am very happy.

9 megapixels is more than enough. Check your quality settings when you save the picture in photoshop. Also, there will be some image degradation when using direct flash on a black object once you tweak the levels.

Be sure to post your pic in that thread too.

Just got my barrels from S&W and have two questions,

1. why is the barrel circular in the lockup area unlike the standard which is square.

2. Will an SilencerCo Osprey9 work with this.

Thanks.

Thread pitch is different on the S&W barrel: 13.5 X 1 Left Hand thread

Storm Lake is: 1/2 X 28

The original barrels are 13.5x1LH, but the newer ones are supposed to be 1/2x28.
